COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The persimmons were provided by Aaron Persinger, a local singer/songwriter who is currently the drummer for Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band. (The Rev himself is a certified Persimmon lover I’ve been told, can’t wait to get him a bottle). Being a classic Indiana fruit, we couldn’t resist, maybe one day we’ll find enough local mulberries and bring another (as far as we know) first-ever fruit lambic-style to the lineup.

Bottle @ Indy Sour Fest. Tart lactic and funky musty lemony aroma. Cloudy yellow with a small white head. Sour lactic lemon and funky musty basement flavor, with just a touch of balancing sweetness. Light body, lively carbonation.

Taste from a 750ml bottle at brew3crew’s house-warming party. Hazy pale yellow color. No head. Couple bits of lace. Great bigger sour taste, very light sweet. Medium to bigger body. Very smooth, very light carbonation. Good dry finish. Not very familiar with persimmon fruit, but I love the pear type, white grape and oak aromas. Hint of spice. Fantastic fruit sour.

750ml, caged and corked bottle. Bottled 2/25/2010. Batch 77-08. Poured a hazy (towards the middle/end of bottle) golden color with an averaged sized head. Persimmons (I’m guessing as I’’m not overly familiar with them), citrus / lemons, and berries. Nice tart finish.

Bottle, 2011 vintage. Aroma is dominated by overripe citrus fruits: orange, tangerine and persimmon I suppose, though I couldn’t say for sure since I’ve never eaten one. Nice sour aroma as well with some sweet grains, dusty brett, earth and oak. The beer pours hazy pale yellow with a tiny ring of bubbles before settling out. Taste is tart up front with sweet candied orange, tangerine, pineapple, pear, musty, oaky and sour. Body is a little thin with high carbonation that kind of ceases of the flavor. After taste is sweet orange peel, pear, oak. Overall a super citrusy sour beer and the first Upland beer I’ve tasted with a real sweet factor. The body is thinner than the others and not as juicy, but the flavor is surprisingly fresh.

Bottle @ Too many geuze’s only one toilet, Ulfborg 2012. Hazy light yellow of color with a small white head. An aroma of spice, soap, weak honey, dry and fresh. A flavor of soap, spice, dry and green grapes.

750 split 2-ways with the GF in some stemware at 45F - 2011 bottle

A - Poured a big head that faded like seltzer. Very fizzy. Appearance very persimmon like with a clear golden orange.

S - Smells like a tart acidic grape juice with notes of honey and caramel.

T - Very grapey. Tannic, grape skins with this interesting sweet acidity that reminds me of sparkling grape juice. Very sweet

M - sweet up front and dry through out.

O - I liked this a lot. I found the tartness to me tongue numbing and the sweetness to be too close to grape juice.

Pours a bright yellow with a gigantic head that settles fairly quickly. I think after settling my glass was only 1/4 full. Smells of persimmons with some lemon, pepper and a lot of funk going on. Taste is very tart upfront. Much more so than I was expecting, but it wasn’t bad. Rounds out into some lemony/persimmon flavor with a touch of funk at the end. Bubbly, but not a gusher for me. Good carbonation. Good light lambic. Been waiting to try this one for a while as I had a friend who made persimmon wine back home. Good flavor and nothing is terribly overpowering. Very good job by my local brewer.
