3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 thetomG (246) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 6, 2011Cloudy straw yellow color with lots of foamy head, but very little lacing.
Aroma is VERY funky with lots of barnyard smells. Flavor is more appealing but subdued - strawberry and other tart lambic flavors are all somewhat muted.
Mouthfeel is nice - smooth and not overly sour, this is a very drinkable beer.
Definitely worth trying - I do wonder how this one might develop over the years...

After trying several upland this tasted like a base lambic. Fruity, yet no real smell or taste of strawberry. I didn’t expect much going into this, and I leave with an overall good lambic. Nothing to brag about like its brother peach or sister raspberry but would drink this over 75% of other lambics

Quite lactic start to finish. Minimal strawberries, but plenty of ambiguous fruits in the nose and on the palate. Good but not great. The Cascade Blueberry of Upland sours.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (6931) - London, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2012
Bottle at The Fruit Sour Tasting, London - many thanks to Paul and Bobby. A bit of a gusher, this one. Pours cloudy gold with a small, white film of a head. Sweaty fruits on the nose. Big sour flavor with light sweetness, salt, lip-puckering sourness, vague fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Clean and very tart on the finish with only mellow suggestions of strawberries. Very decent stuff. Points for the cleanliness and balance if not the fruit character.

Bottle @ The fruit sour tasting. The pour’s a hazy deep orange with a tiny white head. The aroma’s super sweet strawberry jam, lactic funk, general piss and cake. The taste is very tart cherry, acidic tang, wood and light dark berry. Very funky indeed. Overall, decent.

Bottle from a trade (thanks Bobby!) at THE fruit sour tasting. Gusher! It pours cloudy orange with rapidly dissipating head. The nose is tangy strawberry, bubblegum, spice (including clove), wood and light sulphur. The taste is sharp lemon, tart strawberry, red grapefruit, fairly acidic, sherbet, apricot, peach, earth and wood with a tart finish. Medium body, fine prickly carbonation and high acidity. Tasty stuff.

Bottle shared by ahalloin at a recent tasting. Thanks Tony!
This beer appears a hazy shade of yellow, with a little head that fades after a few moments, leaving no lacing. The aroma is just awesome. Delicious strawberry scents amid a great funky, straw, wild yeast smell. The taste follows suit. This is another well-crafted, piquant offering from Upland. The carbonation level is well done, and the overall feel of the beer is really nice. The finish is pleasant, with a lingering tart strawberry aftertaste. I’ll be on the lookout for this beer. Highly recommended.

2009 Vintage received in trade from TexIndy, thanks for the opportunity.
Based on previous reviews I got this really cold and opened it up over the sink. In retrospect I didn’t have to do that.
Pours a crystal clear deep golden orange color with a nice but small bubbly white head that disappears rather quickly. Smells of lemons, old cheese, gym socks and a hint of berry if I strain a bit. Yeah there’s some funk in here. The flavor is nice not as harsh as I was expecting. There’s a solid dose of lemony tartness prickling the front of the tongue and the strawberry comes through subtly. There’s some still a hint of sweet malt a solid funky flavor and a lot of lactic acid. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a tart acidic mouthfeel. This is quite a nice sour, I’m glad I got to try it.
