COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich, dark malt-forward beer gets its deep color and malty flavors from pale, medium caramel, Vienna and chocolate malts. Moderately hopped with German spalt hops, its soft hop palate gets a flavor boost from a careful treatment of minerals added to Portland’s soft Bull Run water to give it a more authentic old-world mouthfeel.

Tap at Green Dragon. Pale amber pour. The aroma is a little bit tart. Lots of rye bready character and a bit of grassy flavour. Some herbal hoppiness. Okay

Tap @ Upright... Poured deep amber/orange-ish with an eggy head. This was quite grainy and malt forward with mild hop character. Refreshing and clean. Toasted sweetness and an acid-like bread tone that reminded me of bagels. Coated the palate nicely, and some a lovely sweetness to it. Quite nice for the style.

Tap at OBF. Pours amber brown with a slight beige head. Aroma reminds of mildly toasted bread. Near med body. Impresses me as sort of a roast version of the old Olympia beer of decades ago. Flavors: Lots of noble/herb hop. Mildly toasted brad. Maybe just a touch of earth. Seems an alt, but it’s a very flavorful one.
