Nearly black in color with an off-white head. Nose is very roasty and has a lot of coffee to it. A hint of smoke, some sweet milk chocolate, and a touch of toast. The flavor is also quite roast forward. Big coffee, chocolate, and some smoke. A touch dry and bitter on the finish. Moderate caramel and chocolate sweetness up front.

Sample on tap at St Augustine’s. Black as expected. The chocolate is upfront, but comes across as an additive, which it is. It’s okay. Not great.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a near-black with a tiny ring of beige head. Aroma is subtle, with dry cocoa powder, a bit of bitter toasted malts, and a metallic tinge. Flavour of bitter dry cocoa, bitter toasted malts, and a touch of espresso. Quite bitter and very dry in the mouthfeel. Good, but a little thin and a tad too harsh in astringency.

On tap. Black with a thin off white head. Scent is coffee and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate and coffee.

This beautiful black beer has undertones of brown. It has a roasted flavor and clean not over powering taste. A slight bitter finish gives this beer a little more complex flavor.

A very good chocolate stout. Pours a deep black with white-tan head. Smells like sweet chocolate. Taste is chocolate and milky, with a slightly hoppy finish. Had on tap at Alembic.

Tap @ Upright... Poured black with a moderate, off-white head. Nose had lots of coffee, mocha, and chocolate notes. Nice maltyiness. Husky and worth with enough and roast to balance all the sweetness going on. Mild to no bitterness depending on your palate. Clean, nice drinking stout.
