COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Last year we added some fatali peppers to an oak barrel of Four, lending it a fruity flavor and some heat as well. We enjoyed that batch quite a bit and plan to do a blend of three barrels this go round, all of which were brewed at different times ranging from April 2009 to just a month ago (December 2010). The barrels also have different yeasts and bacteria in them as well which should make for a pretty complex profile.

Pretty sure this is a fresh batch. Pours translucent hazy with plenty of white foam. And hey, this is pretty good!

Smells like salty lambic(!). Lemony, a tad sour, great citrus character. Mild peppers in the back. FAR better than the last time I had this.

A - poured a hazy yellow with a small lasting creamy white head. S - Nice lightly tart saison like. Some funk, straw, lemon zest, yeast ad chili powder. M - light body and lightly tart with a dry and quite spicy end. T - nice lightly tart lemon juice and zest, yeast, light barrel funk, light and then the chilies. O - a nice barrel aged saison, lightly tart, citrusy, the right amount of yeast and then the fatali. Feels disparate to me, Good beer with a chili afterthought.

750 ml bottle poured a hazy yellow with a small lasting creamy white head. Aromas of barnyard, straw, lemon zest and light fatali peppers. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart warming finish. Flavors of straw, lemon zest, barnyard funk and fatali peppers with a crisp dry tart warming finish.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, gushed like crazy. Hazy golden-orange pour with fluffy white head, aroma brought notes of lime juice, lemon zest, chilis, earth, hints of biscuit, bread, almost a slight tequila like note with some oak, touch of juicy fruit as well, interesting. Taste is as expected, some fruit, earth, oak, spice, yeast into some earthy pepper, lime, zesty citrus with a hint of grain, slightly tart finishing with some chilis, heat, no vegetal note, tart and spicy. Odd, but kind of grew on me towards the end. I however wouldn’t seek this out specifically again.

750ml Bottle shared at home - Smells like freshly sliced apples, lime zest, sweet and sour sauce, earthy peppers, and yeast, wow. Flavors are lively, citrus and stone fruit finish with the perfect heat and tartness. A soured saison with a unique blend of barrels and chills, outstanding.

Shared from a 750ml at Beer Mongers. Ok so yeah I know, sour barrel-aged chili beer isn’t everyone’s forte. Well it is mine. Smells like stone fruit, chinese food, vines and earth and ends in chilies. This thing is so bright on the palate! Hot and sour sauce through and through, tart and spicey, tons of apricots and peaches. I freaking loved this! If weird beers or chili beers are your thing, definitely hunt this sucker down.

On tap at the Brewery. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. The aroma is only light pepper, but big lemon zest, some wood. The flavor is more oranges and lemons, slight sourness, very tart and zesty, but the finish hits you hard with burning heat. Not really a ton of pepper flavor, more heat in the back of you throat. Good. Not super drinkable, but that’s OK.

Bottle 750ml. Pours blond with low white head. Aroma is of citrus, fruits, tea, mint. Taste is of citrus, chili (peppers). Palate: Light, dry, harsh. Overall: Very light and spicy. Nice fruits.

bottle @ cascade + upright tasting sessions - thanks to all. pours hazy very pale yellow with a small white head, some retention and lacing. lemon iced tea, (plain) spiciness - tingling and disturbing white pepper, tea, light acidity, quite yeastifull, pale cereals - wheat and rye. bright to moderate carbonation, light body, burning throat fatali pepper and spicy finish. DP.
