COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five is a farmhouse pale ale that was born after enjoying a few small production European brews that use a heavy hand of hops. Ours blends several Mt. Angel grown varieties to create a deep and complex flavor with an underlying earthiness. Pale fruit aromas created during the fermentation brighten the profile and bring the beer balance.
Malts: organic pale,organic caramel
Unmalted: rolled barley
Hops: willamette, liberty, perle
Also: xanthohumol (bottles only)

Draft. An unclear golden beer with a thin whiteh head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, malt, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, and hints of brettanomyces, leading to a dry finish.

Light peach pour with some chestnut hues and an eggshell cap. Peppery, bready, citrusy, spicy, yeasty, tasty. Sessionable. ’Nuff said!

Draft. Aroma is cheery with citrus, bubblegum, some earthiness but mostly just bright, crisp - smells refreshing. Hazy golden with dense, creamy white head that leaves behind a full cover of lace. Taste: wicked bitter right on the front of the tongue, overwhelming everything else. None of the anticipated crispness - fooled by my nose! The bitterness just sits there, long and unpleasant. Palate: medium body, average carb, slick texture. Overall: bitterness is totally out of whack. Eventually it dies down into something more tolerable, but I'm guessing it's just that my mouth has been beaten into submission. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the bottle, hazy orange pour with a white head. Earthy, fruity, and a little spice bite. Taste is similar with a yeasty flavor. Very tasty Saison.

Pours a hazy orange with a whole lot of foamy white head. Smell is a slightly sour pear with slight citrus hops. Palate is medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Taste is bitter at first and has a short burst of sweetness with a bit of sourness. Very interesting but more bitter than I’d like.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy golden color, with creamy head. Delicate aroma, spices and some citrus fruits, very light cedar. Smooth mouthfeel, with good body structure; it has an excellent flavor of light malt, and a great spice profile, that blends very well into the strong bitterness; some bitter oranges in the end.
Excellent beer, elegant and powerful.

Bottle at my parents, shared with my dad. Pour is murky orange with a long-lasting white head and great lacing. Citrusy, tangy, lemongrass, herbal, straw, and herbal aroma. Taste is grass, spritzy, floral, herbal, somewhat spicy, peppercorns, and band-aid with a light bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Really well-balanced, crisp, dry, and tangy. Well-done!
