COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five is a farmhouse pale ale that was born after enjoying a few small production European brews that use a heavy hand of hops. Ours blends several Mt. Angel grown varieties to create a deep and complex flavor with an underlying earthiness. Pale fruit aromas created during the fermentation brighten the profile and bring the beer balance.
Malts: organic pale,organic caramel
Unmalted: rolled barley
Hops: willamette, liberty, perle
Also: xanthohumol (bottles only)

Bottled: unk Pours a light apricot with a central dome of fine off-white foam with a fine rim of the same. This doesn’t smell particularly hoppy, but grassy with some hints of metal and little bits of clay. Flavor is nice and sharp, a good balanced bitterness with some spicy character, nice catered yeast and a wee bit of tartness (faint lemon concentrate). Medium on full bodied with tight carb and a slick finish. Nice beer, but I feel like it could be better (fresher?). Serving type: bottle 09-21-2012

Pours cloudy orange with a huge beige head that’s got some staying power to it. The aroma has ripe peaches, pale malt, some minty hoppiness and a bit of pine. It has a medium body that starts smooth and then a lot of carbonation gives it a bit of a rougher feel. The taste has a juicy peach aspect to it, some light caramel malt, spiciness, funky/fruity Belgian yeast and has an overall dryness. The finish has piney, spicy and flowery hops added to the mix and they stay on the tongue for a while. Really nice saison.

750 ml bottle. From bierkompass.de.
Hazy golden colour with an average sized foamy white head. Fruity and yeasty aroma with mild maltiness. Good. The flavour is herbal hops, spices, bitterness and malt. The hoppiness is quite strong for a traditional Saison. Tasty this is but I’m missing the delicacy.

Sampled at the brewery. Cloudy yellow, nice white head. Smells kind of piney, kind of peppery. Taste is similar - some piney hops, some peppery flavors, with some tasty sweet and tart notes.

Flaske, 75 cl, delt med Gisle og Sofus. Diset gylden-orange med et fint krid-hvidt skumhovede. Sæbe-næse. Krydderurter, grøntsgsboulion. Let krop. Cremet krop. Mild citrus. Peber. Ok bitter finish, som matcher den milde maltsødme

Bottle sampled at a tasting. From notes. Mostly floral notes with a good deal of citrus and bready yeast. Not too bad.

Pours a murky burnt orange with a big off white head. Very lemony nose, strawberries and peaches, citrusy hops, earthy funkiness, some spice, and a nice grainy smell. Really fruity and hoppy, mostly floral, there’s some strong peppery notes, a great saison funk, and wet grass. Delicious and refreshing.

MadRobin (2075) - Silver Spring, USA - OCT 7, 2013
Poured from 750 ml bottle. Hazy, amber with a 3-finger pale khaki head and very good lacing. Aroma of pungent herbs, spice, tangerines, lemon, apples, earthy hops and yeast. Taste of tangerine, pungent herbal hops, spice, light fruit and a bit of sweet maltiness at the finish. Medium/full body and medium carbonation with a delightfully smooth and solid mouthfeel that leaves you feeling like you just enjoyed a good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
