Bottle. Almost clear medium gold color with lingering rocky white foam. Earthy dry brett, lemongrass, spicy herbal citrusy aromas. Frothy light mouthfeel. Intense floral, herbal tea flavors with citrusy lemon lime, dusty pale malts. Crisp, dry, spicy hop finish. Excellent fucking beer.

Thanks to Skyview! Lovely piles of white head over a hazy orange body. Subtle citrus aroma with delicate floral hints. And the yeasty funk of a good saison. Juicy orange flavor, tangerines too. A little peppary.

bottle bought in vancouver as i didn’t see it in portland. consumed at campground. pours a clear bubbly golden hue with a big foamy white head. leaves some spotty lace. really nice lemon brett funk. grass, hibiscus, pine and earth in the nose. flavor is a lemon dough with some cardamon, spices and pears. lots of carbonation. dry, but could be drier. medium body. really nice old world saison. quite complex and boat load of flavor for such low abv. liked better than all of four through seven series. awesome stuff.

750 ml bottle - I’m pretty sure there has only been one batch, but the times I’ve I had (3 now) this have been quite varied; I know Upright is a relatively new and small place, so that’s kind of expected; in January we cracked one open with Ken @ Amsterdam Cafe in Anchorage and we were all pretty blown away; poured a perfect glowing yellow with eggy white head lingering; big time wild flowers, apricots, pecans, lemons and yeasty goodness; very fresh, fruity, dry and clean; honey, sweet yarrow and crisp, sweet finish; at the time, one of the great beers I’ve ever had; four months later I’m not nearly blown away so maybe it’s just the aging? this time I get more of a cat pee and light ice tea that covers the nose and flavors; nothing bad, just more staleness and less fruity explosion as before; dried yarrow, stale lemon and some peppery spice; stale herbal quality to it; crisp, dry and light mouthfeel; easily my fav from Upright and eager to drink again to see about the bottle variability

750 ml bottle, May ’10
Hazy yellow pour, big fluffy head. Very nice minerally nose, recalling Avril but with some extra herbal presence. Lovely flavors, again an amped-up Avril but with quite a bit more hop character and a dandelion bitterness that is delightful. This is a really exciting American saison, because it gets away from the yeasty esters that characterize the US take on the style and instead puts up the complexity with the aromas of a dusty Minnesota field in July. Coming in a 5.1% and not over-the-top in any way, it’s superb as a table beer. Splendid.

NW style doesn’t have to mean 2oz of hops in every bottle. Sweet juicy orange aroma, with dry citrus rind and a dry herbal gruitish note that I cannot dissect. Dark honey gold with a strong and brash rocky head. Super dry, Great blend of herbs, spectacular array.

Bottle thanks to Suzygreenberg. Pours a cloudy gold with a very thick white heads that lasts and laces nicely. Aroma has strong notes of citrus, flora and some earthy yeast notes. Flavor begins with a nice floral and citrus notes and finishes with a nice earthy note.

Had this on tap at Upright Brewing. Colour... amber with a very thick, pillowy head. Nose... yeasty, plenty of esters and a strong calendula presence. Palate... adequately frothy with loads of sweet spice and herbs, yeast, butyl esters, and waves of calendula that highlight the floral characteristics. My fave of the Upright line-up!

750ml bottle thanks to suzygreenberg
Appearance : Clear amber. Nice colour. Huge creamy and fluffy head.
Aroma : Yeasty bananas with quite a lot of spices. Very floral. Lots of yeasty esters. Gets more floral as it warms up. At the end it almost fells overwhelming.
Taste : Very floral also quite spicy with some yeast but not as much as the nose. Some alcohol on the finish. Carbonation is a bit soft.
Overall : Yeast profile fades a bit with time and flowers comes up more. Awesome nose but maybe a bit too floral for my taste, Very refreshing stuff and VERY interesting brew. This one was drank on a terrace on a sunny day. Perfect brew for that ! Thanks Ben !
