COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Four is truly a light yet flavorful beer. The recipe uses a good portion of wheat and incorporates a sour mash into the process to make it slightly tart and extra refreshing. It has delicate aromas and flavors that span a range of floral, grassy and herbal notes. The finish is extra dry and makes the beer a great beverage to pair with food, especially various cheeses and shellfish.
Malts: organic pale, organic wheat, organic munich
Unmalted: rolled wheat
Hops: hallertauer mittelfrüh

Bottle shared with ken and vi in Vancouver. Pours a light hazy orange amber with white fizzy lacing. Aroma is tart apricot, yeast and wheat. Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated medium to thin with notes of tart fruit, apricot and tangerine, yeast and wheat.

Pour at Scott’s saison tasting, pout out of bottle is slightly hazy pale yellow with thin white head, aroma brought notes of lemon, vanilla, oak, some earth, grass and spice notes as well. Taste is a nice mix of lemon, biscuit and vanilla, hints of earth, grass and tart fruits, finishing fairly sweet with a nice dry finish, very drinkable.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin, faint white head. Aroma of strong yeast, curacao, coriander seed, candy sugar, alcohol (even only at 4.5 it’s noticeable) and a nice medicinal scent. Light-bodied; Sharp sour flavour at first with a good brett flavour at first then fading to a short wheatiness and more of a funky characteristic of yeast, sour grapes, lemons and sugars. Aftertaste is quite complex with a bunch of yeast qualities tucked in to the sourish brett and light wheat and sweetness that is shown at first. Overall, a nice and rather interesting beer that shows well. Low in alcohol means you can drink a lot or the whole of a bottle, but the complexity makes you want to take just one more sip. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Olive Tree Market Place in San Diego, California on 05-May-2012 for US$10.99 sampled at home in Washington on 03-July-2012.

Pale yellow-golden pour. Hazy/cloudy with a tight white head. The aroma is a little bit grassy and grainy. Moderately sweet wheaty flavour with a touch of bright lemony character. A little bit of white Mmpepper. Drinks a little green, despite the potential in this glass.

A solid saison, it has a nice herbal character, not too sweet, refreshing for the summer.

750 ml bottle poured a clear yellow with a small lingering white head. Aromas of straw, barnyard funk, yeast, light citrus and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, light citrus, ligt earthiness and a hint of spice with a crisp dry finish.

Light lemon in the aroma. Very bubbly. Looks and smells like a saison. Flavor is a bit fruity citrus and simple. Goes down easy but has a bit too much lemon for my taste. The #7 is far superior.

Bottle. Aroma of apple and plastic, herbal hops. Faint yellow, slightly hazy, big frothy white head. Flavor follows, balanced herbal, lemon, grassy, apple, bit of plastic, nice and drinkable and light, hops are nice and balanced with moderately light bitterness. Very nice beer, just very expensive for a 4.5%er.

Bottle. Pours light golden yellow with a bit frothy white head. Aroma has some lemon and breadiness, some yeast and esters, citric and sharp. Flavor was a touch plactic but generally refreshing, light wheat and some citric notes, a hint of spice but generally quite drinkable. Light to medium body and a sharp carbonation.
