Four is truly a light yet flavorful beer. The recipe uses a good portion of wheat and incorporates a sour mash into the process to make it slightly tart and extra refreshing. It has delicate aromas and flavors that span a range of floral, grassy and herbal notes. The finish is extra dry and makes the beer a great beverage to pair with food, especially various cheeses and shellfish.
Malts: organic pale, organic wheat, organic munich
Unmalted: rolled wheat

Draught from proletariat. Golden pour. White head. Bit of a yeasty funk. Weird grainy note that hurt this one.

On tap at the blind tiger. Hazy orangish yellow. Plenty of unsalted wheat and very rustic. A bit of lemony freshness on the tongue. Finish is long with a dry pepper finish.

murky hay, fizzy white head with good lacing. Cereal and light corn nose, smacks due to the caramel. Heavy dusty grain flavor, tons of wheat mid with too much sweetness finish, syrupy full at the end.

Pours a hazy gold. Very light in all respects, but very well balanced. Could use a little more saison flavor.

Bottled: unk Pours a cloudy light yellow with a tan hue. There is a two finger white cap that falls to a thick sheet of the same leaving mass lace. Smells of herbs, lemon, grain, grass, asparagus, a touch of diacetyl and belgian yeast character. Flavor is delicate with some grain, some soft floral notes, some pepper and light grass. Medium bodied with a moderately hi, prickly carb and a dry finish. Nice beer.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with light notes of gum, lemon zest. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Surprisingly dull, which is sad because this should have had my name all over it...low-ABV saison, Hallertauer hops...on paper that sounds bloody awesome. But this is almost more like an American Wheat than anything...very faint and simple lemony-floral aroma, which might be nice if I didnít have to struggle to find it. Some beers leap from the glass, this tends to hide in it. In the mouth it starts out reasonably nice, no shortage of malt for the low ABV, but by the finish itís nearly bland...everything just disappears. No flaws, though, which is good. In a way Iím relieved that itís mediocre, since itís vastly overpriced at $13/750mL, but Iím admittedly disappointed because thereís not enough beers of this sort that are repeat-purchase-worthy.
