COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pinot Barrel Four was our second batch. We took the recipe for the Four and sent the beer into some oak barrels graciously donated by La Bete winery of McMinnville, topping them up with a small amount of Oregon cherry puree along with lactobacillus and brettanomyces claussenii to encourage more acidity and aromatic complexity in the finished beer. Half of the batch was blended and kegged and can be found at a few specialty bars while the remaining half is still maturing in the barrels and will likely be bottled at some point towards the end of 2009.

Bottle, thanks to Mac, 09/01/2013. Pours hazy burnt orange, thin white head fades to the surface, soapy ring of lacing. Aroma is tart, medicinal cherry, touch of caramel, vanilla, sharp funk and oak. Taste is light cherry, tart, with lactic vinegar, vanilla, slight plastic character. Medium body. Glad to have tried.

Sweet, peppery, not too sour, rose color but no flavor. Smooth and somewhat easy drinking, but not a staple

750mL thanks to writerjberg and Travlr. Rating #100 for this beer. Black and red label with some soft core pornography. Pours very light pink, sparkling, with weak foam looking like rose wine. Nose is juicy, freshly baked cherry pie. Really amazing kriek nose. Taste is bright lactic acid, loads of lime juice, juicy red cherry. Overall a simple, bright, refreshing kriek.

jredmond (5259) - Manhattan, New York, USA - APR 11, 2013
Bottle courtesy of Jay shared at Andy’s. Pours a murky reddish amber body with nice off white lacing. Aroma is soft cherry, oak, red wine, funk and lemons. Mouthfeel is soft with notes of tart cherries, red wine barrel, wood, lemon and other citrus fruits, funky brett and earthy lacto. As Jay mentions below, the keyword here is subtlety - nothing overstated or dominating, instead everything works nicely together. Well balanced sour ale.
