COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pinot Barrel Four was our second batch. We took the recipe for the Four and sent the beer into some oak barrels graciously donated by La Bete winery of McMinnville, topping them up with a small amount of Oregon cherry puree along with lactobacillus and brettanomyces claussenii to encourage more acidity and aromatic complexity in the finished beer. Half of the batch was blended and kegged and can be found at a few specialty bars while the remaining half is still maturing in the barrels and will likely be bottled at some point towards the end of 2009.

A: Poured an orangish color with a nice white cap and some bubbles S: Cherries, some cream with some old wood, horseblanket and a touch of lemon? T: The cherries are an immediate with red wine which provides some light grape blended with some oak, Earth, funk and a stinkging lacto presence with a light hay and lemon squeeze M: Well carbonated, medium body with a unique feel from wine like silky texture, lacto and the traditional dryness of a farmhouse. All uniquely blended O: Good

From notes. Four Play pours a peach color with a brown tint. A soft and gentle foamy off-white head rests on top before fading gradually. The aroma reminds me a bit of peach yogurt. A little bit of vanilla works with a lactic sour peach and cherry aroma. The flavor is definitely on the lactic side. Sour cherry, vanilla, a little bit of oak, a touch of red grapes, and a little bit of lemon all contribute to a pleasantly sour and smooth flavor. The body is on the full side for the side, with a noticeably creamy carbonation. This is smooth and very drinkable. Overall, this sour is one of the smoother American wilds I have had.

Botlle provided by Matt, sampled side by side with Blend Love. Poured into my Jackie Oís snifter. Pours a hazy orange with minimal head. Nose reminds me of another beer, but cant figure out what it is....Isabelle? That wouldnít make sense though as the pinot is pretty evident. Some stone fruit, apricot, and funk. More acidic than the Blend Love, but I like it. Some funk and cheesiness and a lot of citrus fruit, really dig the balance. Itís nice and sour but isnít incredibly in your face. The palate is lightly spritzy, with a long finish and light mouthfeel. My favorite Upright to date, would like to grab a bottle of it.

Nice tangy nose, hint of the cherries. Wonderful red-orange glowing color. Smooth fruity taste balanced nicely with the funk. Overall a nice beer after letting it sit and open up a bit.

Served in a Mikasa tulip. Pours a light copper color with a bit of a reddish hue. Good white head and a bit of lacing. The nose has a beautiful cherry presence with a bit of light funk in the background. The flavor has great cherry with a subtle funk plus a bit of hay. Light earth and a bit of acidity. Light body with fairly-high carbonation. Slight pucker to the finish. Utterly delicious.

Hazy with a slight pinkish hue. Smells tart and lactic with a light berryish note. Very fruity character with clean lactic tartness. Has good complexity and is very drinkable.

pours translucent orange marmalade with a quickly dissipating head, almost zero CO2 head retention, a few barely visible slow-moving CO2 streams. Sour cherries and a bit of barnyard on the nose. Very 9/10 sharp sour-mouth-puckering tart start, followed by soft morello cherries in the mid mixed with green apples, a bit of oak in the backend and exhale, but a partially rough "aspartame" finish at the back of the throat. Not as intensely punchy and barnyard as Belgian lambics and krieks - this is softer and mellower. Medium complexity, low-medium depth, medium bodied, medium carry. Canít say Iíll ever go for another bottle but glad I tried it.

Bottle shared by Puddintane @ Jackie Oís. Pours a hazy reddish orange color with a medium off white head. The aroma has tart fruits and cherry, mild funk, oak, vinous notes and some background yeasty bread. The flavor opens with a big burst of tart fruits. Cherry and vinous notes are dominant, but some berry notes are also there. Woody, mild funk and yeasty bread show up as well. I found this to be enjoyable in between some of the crazy barrel aged stouts running around this day.
