This batch uses the Six as a base. It’s a blend of 4 former pinot noir barrels: one with chocolate syrup from Alma here in Portland, two with different forms of black pepper and one straight up, each filled at different times ranging from as little as several weeks to nearly a year ago. The peppercorns, long pepper and Tasmanian peppercorn, are very aromatic, the first being remarkably fruity and bright while the latter are earthy and intense while also lending a numbing sensation to the mouthfeel. The finished beer is very tart and dry with lots of bite from the pepper as well as some from the rye and hops. That bite will mellow with age and the beer will round out with more chocolate and oak flavors coming through down the road.

Huge thanks to daknole. Bottle pours burnt copper with an eggshell head. Aroma is an interesting combo of sour fruit, vegetation, and spices. Flavor shows the same with chocolate, sour stone fruit, light vinegar, pepper, allspice and a touch of what even seems like cinnamon (my guess would be from the pinot barrels). Damn good stuff and very interesting.

Shared with McBerko at Alibi’s 200th beer list in Vancouver. Poured a deep brown with orange tinges. Aroma was woody, oaken, mild bourbon, some vanilla and a tad fruity. Sourness was subdued. Taste was similar, pleasant but not overwhelming. Very good.

Brown pour, white head. Aroma is spicy, pepper, vegetal notes, tartness. Flavor is certainly sour, green peppercorns, light vinegar, lemony notes. Yeah this is good.

Bottle [rating 1800!!!]... Poured a hazy, ruby/rust color with a thin head. Thinner palate which boasted a dry, tart, acidic sourness. The rye malts from the Six endorsed cocoa, nutty characters. Candied sweet, acidic, apple and other light fruits. Oak, lettuce and other earthy bittering qualities (probably from the peppercorns, etc.), slight alcohol kick reminiscent of pinot.
