750 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums. Pours a murky reddish brown with a nice white head. Aroma is chocolate cake, spicy, yeasty. Flavor is tart, caramel. Not that tasty. Finish is...lots of somewhat annoying tartness. Medium body, average carbonation. Ordinary.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Market of Choice, Eugene. Pours a medium-dark reddish brown, lots of off-white head. Aroma vinous and vinegary, lots of tartness. Maybe some stone fruit notes, too. Strawberry? Fresh apricots? Smells tasty. Body lively, finish sharp, tart, and then with a bright sweetness before fading back to a lingering if slight bitterness, woody notes. Holy hell, amazing. Will have to get another one to age; not sure what the vintage is of this bottle.

Bottle. Cheers to Bruce. The pour’s deep red with a small head. The nose is spiced red fruits. Strawberry and blackberry preserve. Farmhouse yeast, a bit of fun. The taste is somewhat acetic. Berry punch, some lemon peel. Some rusty penny, a bit of mineral. Medium body, smooth. Overall, quite tasty indeed.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to Bruce, consumed at his shack. It pours hazy mahogany brown with a medium beige head. The nose is light sulphur, wood, sour green apple, vanilla, earth and toasted coconut. The taste is wood, earth, pleasant tartness, spice, dark fruit, tart berry, vinous and light acidity with a dry finish. Initially tart then smooths out. Medium body and fine carbonation. Rather tasty and brilliantly balanced.

Palate is soft and a little dry with fine carbonation. Soft malt, light and thin. Winey tone with nice generic fruits. Spot of sweet cherry candy. Minerally dry finish with a little spice. 3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is dominated by phenolics with secondary malt and acid characteristics. Nice light pepper and clove notes with some allspice as well. Light acidic fruitiness showing itself in the form of cherries. Faint toasted bread malt notes.
Pours a cloudy brown with some ruby highlights. Big, thick tan head that recedes very slowly with some form of head persisting throughout. Low lacing.
Flavor starts with a light malt character - toasted bread and crackers. The acidity then comes bringing cherries and berries. Low bitterness in the finish which ushers in the phenolic notes. Light clove and peppercorn throughout. Surprisingly fruity. Finish is a bit odd with the phenolics mixing with the fruit acidity.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium alcohol warmth.
Overall another good beer from Upright. More acidity than I was expecting but it works well with the beer for the most part. The finish is a bit odd. I was expecting more spice throughout but due to the acidity I am glad it was as subdued as it was.
