Bottle:   Deep burnt caramel, brownish of sorts, large light beige head, nice lacing.   Bright barnish
nose, definite rye.   Rich maltiness on the tongue, rye, and a bit of straw/hay.   Feels a bit spritzy and
bubbley.   Strong rye from start to finish.   Mild sweetness, lingering barnishness.   Body and mouthfeel
are moderate, albiet very effervescent.   Smidgen of a chocolate like malt on the finish.   Overall its fairly
tasty, heavy on the rye, malty, spritzy, with a rustic barnish like finish.   Maybe could use a little more
sweetness, but otherwise enjoyable.

Thanks to mdfb79 for sharing this the other night. Served in a SAVOR snifter.
Pours a nice copper color with a bit of a reddish hue. Good off-white head and some nice spotty lacing on the way down.
The nose brings forward a really strong rye presence. A bit of that rye sourness comes through along with an earthy component. Flavor focuses too much on the rye and lets the other components of the beer get away. Medium body with good carbonation and a dry, slightly-tangy finish.
Pretty good, but too much focus on the rye and not enough on the yeast.

Bottle. Pours a hazy caramel brown with a gray head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount amount of dark fruits with an earthy chocolate note and a hint of spice. Flavor starts with some sweet dark grains that is joined by a dark fruit note that is backed by spice and an earthy yeast note.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 KyotoLefty (4730) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 2, 2012
750 ml bottle. Big rye nose, acid, slightly acetic, light esters, fruit. Dark brown with lace. Sour flavor with rye, caramel, nuts, vinegar. The clean, sour edge is nice, but maybe not enough malt behind it. Hoppy, bitter finish. Huge rye flavor is interesting.

Strong fruity esters (bubblegum?) marry well with spicy rye and deep, sweet chocolate in the aroma. Opaque darkest brown body is topped by a decent tan, fine bubbled head that recedes to cover and sticks to the sides of the glass with lacing. Chocolate and cherries with some butterscotch in the flavour. Spicy cereals in the finish. Quite sweet but never cloying. Medium body with moderate carbonation and somewhat slick texture. On tap at Alibi Room.

I was excited last month to try upright but the experience of the first three has not been as high expected. Bottle. Very dark brown. Nice frothy head. Chocolate-coffee tangy scent. Sharp sourness in the first sip. Metallic note. Coffee, chai, chocolate and spicy herbal notes make for a bit of a muddled beer.
