COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cuvee Lactovasilios is a two cask blend made from a Berliner weisse style wort. The brew was fermented directly in several barrels, but this small batch version was done in the ones that previously held the Fantasia, our annual limbic-esque peach beer, and later a round of Five. The fruit originally in the barrel stayed the entire time, becoming a habitat for different yeasts and bacteria, some pitched by us and others coming from the orchard. The fruit also retained some of the Five, which lends this Cuvee a very slight bitterness and hint of saison character. Coupled with the mixed yeast and bacteria barrel fermentation, the finished beer even takes on some Geuze-like qualities and while ready now will certainly mature well for several years.

Nice dry tart, sour, mouth-puckering beer here. Super light and effervescent. Medium to mild funk. Nice light fruit flavor.

Tap @ Upright... This was far better than the regular Lactovasilios. This version a blend of barrels that once held Fantasia and Sole Comp Barrel Aged 5. A bit sharper and slightly more acidic. Vinous wine like tones with citrus and lactic acid. Refreshing and much cleaner than the straight Pinot aged version. A significant increase in quality.

Shared with Shawn at his flat. Thanks, man. Pours a golden metallic with a trimmed whitish ring. Aromas of buckwheat, barnyard, cucumber, biscuits, and apricots. Tastes of everything described, with the addition of cotton, Greek yoghurt, ginger syrup, and Saltine crackers by swallow. Buttery. Quite good.

750mL bottle. Number 75 of 151.A: Placid orange with some turbulence throughout. Bubbles congregate at the bottom.N: Solid oak, lactic acid, lemon zest, grapefruit juice, some brown sugar, pine bark, lavender. An appreciable nose with a lot of bright quality. White wine grape.T: Bright sourness with a poised malt base. Some slight salt from the wood. I get a lot of the lemony citrus. There is a bit of sulfuric acid.M: Light body with a zesty carbonation. Eminently drinkable.O: more good stuff from Upright. Wish it didn?t have the slight burn, but definitely not a let down.

Bottle courtesy of GT2, thanks for making sure I got some of this! Poured a slightly hazy yellow-orange color. Light, slightly tart, citrus notes, in the aroma. Flavor is tart, slightly funk notes. Not bad at all! Really liked this one.

Trransparent gold, puffy white head that falls off quick. Sticky nose of vanilla, light lemon, not enough grain or lactic balance though light scents of milky grain with warmth. Some pedio kicks up with stirs. Light flavor, slight mineral, milky dough front and mid, lemon throughout, more grain and gravel in finish with toast lasting long. Nose needs more balance, softest Berliner flavor I’ve ever tried.

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow gold with quickly dissipating white head. Nose and taste of tart lemon, banana, wheat malt, light soured citrus, lactose, saison yeast and light peach breads. Body is on the lighter side of medium. Refreshing.

Bottle... Clear golden ale with no head. The nose is tangy, woody and a touch buttery. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor is tangy - not quite tart – and offers some nice fruitiness. The tangy, lightly buttery finish leans toward the flat and mundane. The diacetyl is distracting, but not a total buzz-kill. Good beer overall. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!
