Jokingly named by Upright’s beer titler Angelo de Ieso after our pal Vasili, head brewer at Laurelwood, this brew is a one-off barrel fermented Berliner-weisse. It’s got a pleasantly funky and aromatic nose with the characteristic sharp sour flavor produced by large amounts of lactic acid bacteria. The Lactovasilios was a small batch blend that will see very limited distribution, but expect to see it at Portland’s most beer-centric spots

Cloudy tan, tart lacto character, some sweet malts, touch of tartness, not a lot of complexity , yeasty, but at least a little refreshing.

On tap at Belmont Station Puckerfest 2013! Hazy straw-colored ale with a miniscule white head that disappears in a blink. The aroma provides oak and lots of fruity, citric acidity. Light-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is citric and quite sour. Crisp, tart, clean finish. Excellent true-to-style Berliner weisse

Bottle shared in Great Taste Ticket Line 2013 (Madison, WI). Thanks, Nate! Pours a hazy straw pour, good mellow glow, straw grain, some yellow. Frothy whitish head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas offer some nice apple, sour lemons and bretty funk. Yogurty sourness, funk, and straw. Gentle oak, yogurt, funk and bigger sour fruit, crab apple and lemon. Initial is lighter end of the fold, nice sour lemon kick, some orange, lactic elements. Front end if firmly sour, trailing into a mellow dry grainy middle. Yogurty, some funk, straw. Crab apples, mellow yeast, firm funk. Oak and bigger lactic sour twang. Some cheesecloth and funky elements into that backend, lots of cheese, funk, and twangy sour finish. Really impressive front end, fruity and rich with good sourness, gets really cheesy for me as we finish up. Pretty solid.

750ml bottle. 30 of 176. Much thanks from the th man... Pours a semi-transparent, somewhat hazy, golden hay consistency and topped with a creamy thin film of vivid white head... White pepper with mild lacto milky sourness to go alongside a socky funkiness, almost a stink but still not overbearing. A light tinge of smokey matchstick... Flavors are more of the same with a lemon lacto presence with a lighter essence of wheat grain but the former takes precedence. Seedy berry, light matchstick. Lighter bodied with semi-lively carbonation. Pretty darn drinkable and enjoyable.

Pours hazy pale yellow with golden hues and a big white head that dissipates quickly. Nose is hay, lemon, orange, soil, leather and hints apples and vinegar. Taste is sweet up front with big tart and bitter kick in the middle followed by a sweet finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and dry, light body and big finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle generously shared by a kind soul at the Tampa Crew Tasting. Pours a dark hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is vinegar, prickly citrus, grain, and a nice lacto character. Flavor follows the nose: tart citrus, grain, and a bit of a chalky finish. Very nice beer, unique for sure.
