COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jokingly named by Upright’s beer titler Angelo de Ieso after our pal Vasili, head brewer at Laurelwood, this brew is a one-off barrel fermented Berliner-weisse. It’s got a pleasantly funky and aromatic nose with the characteristic sharp sour flavor produced by large amounts of lactic acid bacteria. The Lactovasilios was a small batch blend that will see very limited distribution, but expect to see it at Portland’s most beer-centric spots

Thanks Aaron! Pours a semi-cloudy light straw color. Light cheesiness in the background with some light lactic acid. Flavor has touch of cheese along with moderately-brisk acidity and a nice backing wheat character. Very light and dry.

Pours a translucent yellow gold with no head. Aroma of funk, lacto and lemons. Taste is sour, slight funk and oaky, sour wheat also present. This might overtake tartare as the most sour Berliner that I've ever had. It's really nice, I'm so glad I got to try this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

a great aroma. citrus tartness, a yeasty breadiness and some wheat notes are all there in the nose. a light medium body with a bit of wheat and hints of citrus tartness throughout. the finish is clean and dry with great hit of tartness. really good.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Hazy straw-colored ale with a miniscule white head that disappears in a blink. The aroma provides oak and lots of fruity, citric acidity. Light-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is citric and quite sour. Crisp, tart, clean finish. Excellent true-to-style Berliner weisse from a brewery that I’ve quickly grown to love and respect. Bottle generously shared by landhoney! Rufus? Seth? He’s the man!

Draught at Bailey’s. Bright gold, close to pastel with a low head that quickly went to lace then disappeared. Funky acid nose more brett than Berliner. Lemon, light yogurt. Light and crisp flavor, again, more funky and bretty but nice flavor for a 3.8% beer. Lemon, yogurt, funk. Good, not great.

On tap at Saraveza’s IIPA Fest to cleanse the palate, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of lightly tart light fruits and quite dry wheat. Flavour is refreshingly tart, never overbearing in tartness, quite yeast, tart and wheaty. Finishes tart, light and wheaty. Very refreshing and well-made for a style I don’t normally appreciate.

Sampled on tap at Belmont Station at Puckerfest. Pours a faint yellow in color with a half a fingers worth of head. Nose is a balance of wheat and very gentle lemon. Flavor is similar to the nose, it’s wheat up front and a good amount of lemon on the back. Very pleasant and easy drinking. Light mouthfeel, gentle tartness, and a moderate finish. Great example of a classic Berliner, I could drink gallons of this. Hopefully they bottle this in the future.

Tap @ The BeerMongers’ sour event... Hazy, pale straw pour with no head. The nose was a bit sulfer-like and poopy diaper-esq. Thinner body, wheat and mild acidity. Not totally sour. Grassy, a nice quenching base with a nice crispness. A little sticky with some malt sweetness.
