COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jokingly named by Upright’s beer titler Angelo de Ieso after our pal Vasili, head brewer at Laurelwood, this brew is a one-off barrel fermented Berliner-weisse. It’s got a pleasantly funky and aromatic nose with the characteristic sharp sour flavor produced by large amounts of lactic acid bacteria. The Lactovasilios was a small batch blend that will see very limited distribution, but expect to see it at Portland’s most beer-centric spots

Cloudy tan, tart lacto character, some sweet malts, touch of tartness, not a lot of complexity , yeasty, but at least a little refreshing.

Keg at the Green Dragon, PDX, 11/11/14. Lightly hazed golden orange with no head. Nose is tarte citric rinds, lemon dipped straw, light fart, touch musty, peach. Taste comprises light florals, musty wood, tangerine, tarte peach. Medium bodied, fine carbonaton, funky rinse in the close. Decent enough ’Linner, but perhaps expected a little more from these guys?

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Hazy straw-colored ale with a miniscule white head that disappears in a blink. The aroma provides oak and lots of fruity, citric acidity. Light-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is citric and quite sour. Crisp, tart, clean finish. Excellent true-to-style Berliner weisse from a brewery that I’ve quickly grown to love and respect. Bottle generously shared by landhoney! Rufus? Seth? He’s the man!

GABF. Cloudy yellow pour. White head. Lactic sour aroma, some earthy grains, light lemon notes. Flavor is tart, lactic sourness, a hint of yogurt. Damn fine beer!

750ml bottle (thanks Josh!). Hazy yellow color with almost no head. Citrus, grains, and nice and funky. Nice tart finish. I wish I had a shelf full of these!

Bottle shared by me at Alan’s house. Pours cloudy yellow with white head. Nose and taste of banana, sour wheat, lemon, funk and lactose sourness. Lighter medium body.

On tap at Saraveza’s IIPA Fest to cleanse the palate, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of lightly tart light fruits and quite dry wheat. Flavour is refreshingly tart, never overbearing in tartness, quite yeast, tart and wheaty. Finishes tart, light and wheaty. Very refreshing and well-made for a style I don’t normally appreciate.

Draught at Bailey’s. Bright gold, close to pastel with a low head that quickly went to lace then disappeared. Funky acid nose more brett than Berliner. Lemon, light yogurt. Light and crisp flavor, again, more funky and bretty but nice flavor for a 3.8% beer. Lemon, yogurt, funk. Good, not great.

Draft at Green Dragon. Pours a clear pale gold with a loose white head. Funky wet straw nose also showing some light lemon and some damp sourdough bread. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Sourdough and wet straw mid palate with tiny bits of lemon. Very refreshing; tons of flavor for 3.8.

Bottle shared in Great Taste Ticket Line 2013 (Madison, WI). Thanks, Nate! Pours a hazy straw pour, good mellow glow, straw grain, some yellow. Frothy whitish head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas offer some nice apple, sour lemons and bretty funk. Yogurty sourness, funk, and straw. Gentle oak, yogurt, funk and bigger sour fruit, crab apple and lemon. Initial is lighter end of the fold, nice sour lemon kick, some orange, lactic elements. Front end if firmly sour, trailing into a mellow dry grainy middle. Yogurty, some funk, straw. Crab apples, mellow yeast, firm funk. Oak and bigger lactic sour twang. Some cheesecloth and funky elements into that backend, lots of cheese, funk, and twangy sour finish. Really impressive front end, fruity and rich with good sourness, gets really cheesy for me as we finish up. Pretty solid.
