3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Upright, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out various spices, rye and Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out cherry juice upfront, followed by spices and rye. The cherry juice is front and centre in this, but it tastes a bit artificial and oddly situated. It’s alright, but far from a sophisticated Upright beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Mikkeller Bar, SF. Pours a brownish colour with a tanned head that fades. Nice lacing. Nose has loads of spices, rye, orange, farmhouse yeast malt and rum. Taste is more of the rum and orange - makes for a nice combo. Biscuit malts and farmhouse yeast at the backend. Spicy rye rounds off the finish. Fucking weird shit. Pretty good though.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle courtesy of Todd for sending this my way. Bottle numbered 121 of 191... Pours a mostly non-transparent muddled copper hue and topped with a thin frothy off-white head that quickly dissipates to a wispy film... Aroma of cherry juice, oak, and orangy citrus notes. Medium level of tartness and red wine notes... Red wine, cherries, dry oakiness in the flavor. Semi-lively and active carbonation without too big of a body. Spices seem to have faded to a certain degree although a hint of cinnamon is faintly noticeable. An off-touch of metallic on the backend that was noticeable initially, which faded, and then surfaced once again. Finish has a modicum of grain and earth late.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sole Comp. bottle 147 of 191. Pours a red-tinted orange. On the nose I get grape notes, oak, and spice. Taste is vinous with soft dark fruits and a prickly fruit finish with a bit of green apple (the green apple appeared in a few sole comp. bottles unexpectedly). Dunno if I’d recommend it, but it’d be interesting to see how this one ages when the spices fade away.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle, #154 of 191. The pour yields a very lightly hazy, burnt orange amber body with a small off-white head that settles quickly to a thin ring. Minimal lace spotting mostly rejoins the body below. The nose is quite odd, suggesting of Necco Wafer candy and dry powdered sugar up front, touching on fresh juniper berry, soft pinot tannins, and loads of oak. The malt base is altered by sweet-tart cherries, making it hard to decipher what lies beneath. Flavors are more cherry-forward, with plenty of mild oaky spice and softly tannic pinot skins. There is a minty juniper freshness, along with , mildly musty yeast. The palate is slightly chalky and semi-dry, with very soft carbonation and a mildly acetic finish. Definitely a different brew here. Honestly not my favorite, but interesting.
