Old Tom Blend is composed of fresh Four with a gin barrel fermented saison from the Fall of 2011 that spent over a year in cask. The gin barrel charachter is defined by light oak notes and mixed botanicals leaning on juniper, pine and citrus which also impart a slightly slick moutfeel from their oils. The young Four livens the beer with herbal hop flavors and a different type of bright acidity. The blend comes across quite balanced between the flavors, maintaing a dry finish that stays smooth as opposed to agressive. If you can imagine a vermouth based on sparkling wine, it would probably be simialr to this. Enjoy now or cellar one additional year.

Thanks Tony for sharing this beer. I love Gin. Stoked!

A - Hazy bright orange white head.

S - Peppery, cloves, yeasty aroma with very little sweetness. Very herbal, has a lot of yeast and maybe tropical fruits.

T - Taste is excellent. Oaky, crisp, apple, orange peels. Liquor, just really well done. the yeast presence is exceptional.

M - Mouthfeel, filling, bright, juicy with a subtle dryness.

O - This beer was exceptional. Not sure how old it is but very few of the Sole Comp beers are a let-down.

750 ml bottle thanks to Tectactoe, much thanks. Cloudy gold, thin lasting head. Aroma is should amount of flowers, light gin barrel and soild amount of yeast.the gin barrel character is big and right upfront. Thought the center has flowers and light yeast. I like the creativity of this brew.

750mL bottle shared by tectactoe opened at Ratebeer Farmhouse Magnum Tasting v1. Thanks, Anthony! Pours yellow gold with a white head. Aroma is wheat, floral, funk. There’s a lot going on in the flavor... There’s juniper, oak, sour wheat, citrus. Nice.

[6092-20131203] Bottle. Lemony grains aroma has a slight clove cleaner note. Hazy, light brown body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Bitter grainy citrus flavour with an herbal cloves aftertaste. Medium body is a little tart. Tasty. (7/4/8/4/16) 3.9

Bottle @ GT’s Cat Cabana. Thanks, GT. Lightly hazed golden pour with a white head. Fruity, apricot aroma. Apple cider, lime, and lemon. Gin, a lot of juniper herbal qualities, and a touch of vanilla. Tons of lemon-lime on the palate. Nice tart citrus, some cider, and juniper. A touch of rosemary, vanilla, and oak. A bit of flour and fresh dough malt character. Solid stuff.

Bottle, mucho thanks to GT. Pours a hazy yellow with average foam. Very floral bouquet of juniper, light oak, lemon-lime, faint pepper. The palate is very fresh and pure with lemon-lime, spring flowers, light rosemary, and a definite gin note which is quite complementary with everything else. Delicate finish.

> The grisette version of Jaune Quatre

[ Bottle ][ brainlair ][ 750mL ][ Trade ][ Tired Hands Stemware ][ 4/26/14 ]
>> Thank you Brian for this wale. Clear light straw golden with medium carbonation, wispy white foam. Nose is delicate but expressive of Upright’s best of the best botanical Gin barrel mix and house funk: lime zest, juniper, rose, garden flowers, fresh and inviting. Taste is very light, almost grisette in palate, with fresh lime spritzer, lime seltzer, mild dough. Overall delicate but absolutely stomped all over the bottle of Special Herbs we had back to back.

>!< very light bodied
