This bottling represents the first time Upright has ever barrel aged the Five. It never struck me as a great candidate for maturation in oak, but after draining the Fantasia barrels it seemed like a good fit to refill them. The aromatics on the Five, both fermentation and hop-based, have pale stone fruit nuances that I knew would work well on top of the otherwise spent peaches still in the barrels. It was a bit of a trial, and only two casks were filled. After several months, the beer started tasting just like I had hoped, so the two were blended and either kegged or bottled for this Sole Composition release.

Smells like light citrus and light yeast. Taste is the same with a nice doughy character. Medium body, light carbonation, and no foam.

Bottle via trade a while back. Man I have a backlog. Pours out a decent cloudy copper color with a small white head. Aroma is floral with some sweet funky brett, light tartness, lemon and some light earthy wood. Taste is complex, floral, funky, plasticky brett, leather, lots of sweet fruity notes, light lemon peel, some earthy barrel, mild tartness.

Bottle at the Half Marathon tasting, May 2015. Pours a bright hazy golden yello with white lacing. Mouthfeel is medium to creamy with a great balance of flavors: earthy funk, fresh grass, barn funk, sour fruit (peach and lemon), light grains and sour oak. Really nice.

5 Kay, 7.5 Kay, 10 Kay Tasting. Thanks to Colin, opened whilst he was still getting over Melcher Street! Very hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and crisp and semi dry. Good fine carbonation. Very good fruits here - light sweet citrus orange with peach, nectarines. Light tangy white wine vibe. Light finish. Good stuff!
