COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure the British introduced the Brown Ale way back in 17th century. It was light brown and sweet, and brewed exclusively with brown malt. Brewer Chad Pieper decided that this was a good foundation, but as Americans do, the style needed to be Americanized. It needed to be roasted, and malty, and it needed to be a little more bitter than the style that was an English second cousin to the mild ale.

Can. Pours dark brown with red hues with tan head. Aroma is very cocoa, vanilla, sweet, chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, good carbonation, almost scotch ale-like. Overall, one of the best browns Iíve ever had.

Out of the 12oz can! The best beer from upslope Iíve had yet, nice walnut color, translucent with an oyster head and good lacing. Good aroma, roasted marshmallow, not too toasty. Taste is predominantly malty-sweet. Not too sour, nor too hoppy--I think they got the hop balance right. Very full mouthfeel actually. Just a good brown ale.

Can at Chao Chandler AZ. Not my style preference so a bit surprised by smell and taste. Hopped enough for an IPA lover yet malty for anti hop heads. Just enough alcohol to tip the scales. Drink one now.

Sweet, toasty, cocoa malt aroma; Subtle fruit. Flavor is sweet and toasty -- finishing with a drier roasted malt flavor. Subtle apple-ish fruit. Kind of a harsh bitterness -- but not a ton of it.

12 ounce can. Pours a cloudy brownish-red with a three inch tan head that lasts. Taste is of roasted malt, caramel, wood, pine, citrus and hops. Similar aroma. Has a mostly full body with a slight bitter finish. Easy to drink, quite enjoyable and worth picking up again.

12 OZ can at Fire on the Mountain. Beauty. Soft brown color. Great lasting head. Nose of nutty chocolate and a hint of honey. Well carbonated with a good chewy mouth feel. Chocolate, molasses and honey bunches of oats. Finished clean and dry with low residual sweetness. Could pass the three beer test.
