4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RSRIZZO (1821) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - JUL 23, 201112oz can poured into a Dimpled mug at 43°. Color is a nice dark brown with good carbonation and a tight tan head. Aroma is a deep scent of roasted malt with a light spicy hop note in back. Medium body that gives a creamy mouth feel. Flavor is rich with a bold roasted malt flavor, just a hint of coffee and a light sweet toffee taste, then a mellow bitterness tops it off. In the after taste the smooth roasted flavors slide back and let the bitterness show a little more with a nice spicy hop flavor. Overall its another great brew from these guys, looking forward to try more brews from them.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brouwerij (501) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Can. Pours a dark brown with a finger of tan head. Settles quickly with some lacing. Aroma is roasted, nutty, malty, with some underlying alcohol. Flavor is roasted, dark malt, hint of chocolate with a roasted/burnt finish. Slight hoppy bitter aftertaste that lingers. Relatively soft carbonation, medium body, and smooth finish. It’s been a while, but this beer is significantly better than I remember. A good, drinkable brown ale.

Pours a deep reddish-brown with a nice, stable head. Nutty and roasty aromas. Bitterness gradually comes thru to play against the malt in the middle. Fairly clean finish, though a trace of bitterness and sweet, bready characters linger.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fatehunter (793) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 4, 2013
One and a half fingers of tan head on brown, amber ting’d colored body.
The aroma is a nice nutty and malt smell. Really nice.
The taste is nutty and malty as well. A solid profile.
Smooth texture with low carbonation and medium body.
A drinkable brown ale and tasty too.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 beerandbeyond (463) - ISRAEL - DEC 5, 2012
12oz can poured into a wine glass.
Slightly hazy dark brown color with no head.
Sweetened coffee aroma with some milk chocolate, mild roast and earthy hops.
Sweet and deep malt flavor, with dark caramel notes, some coffee, roasted nuts and lo bitterness.
(Too) low carbonation, medium bodied, not very balanced and a bit alcoholic. Far from great, but not awful.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 arrogantb (1398) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2012
I picked this up on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Brown color with some sticky lacing on the glass, maybe that’s the brown sugar? Smell is roasty, toasty, and definitely signals brown ale. The flavor was very rich, malty, sweet, good. The only problem I’d have with this beer is that it’s so rich and the ABV is close to 7% so I can only drink a couple of these. This is easily upslope’s best beer.
