3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Pours extremely dark, tan head. Smells a little smokey, kinda bready. Medium body, much lighter than expected. Very carbonated, kinda flavorless. Some bitterness at the end. I would say this is a miss. Pretty disappointed actually.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(can from Sparky, thanks!) Pours a jet black color with a large tan head that retains well. Aroma of stale coffee grounds, roasted malt, cocoa, and light smoke. Flavor holds a little bit of tartness in the mid which creates a berry-like effect followed by sour and bitter coffee before rounding out to a fairly even roasted malt finish. Mouthfeel is fairly full and smooth. Carbonation is moderate. Overall a solid foreign stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12-oz. can. Aroma of effervescent ginger, charred bark, well-browned biscuits, a semi-sweet brown malt, peanut butter, an earthy touch reminiscent of wet garden soil, some baker’s chocolate, and a very slight phenolic tone. Pours a clear medium black with an irregular tan head full of frogs’ eyes. The refined and balanced taste features a solid semi-sweet chocolate punch, a moderate roasty bitterness, a pleasant peanut butter nuttiness running through the background, a vague woody characteristic, and a cola and root-like bite. Well-carbed with a somewhat creamy texture and a sweet and dry finish. A fine example of the style.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet, light cocoa. Seems a strong, slightly alcoholic stout. Sweetish cocoa character. Fudgey. Touch of that going nowhere fruitiness of a lousy foreign stout. Misses the style mark by quite a bit, and isn’t all that interesting otherwise.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft in a flight at Ground Control. Pours a deep brown, nearly opaque, with a small beige head that settles into a ring. Aroma of chocolate, soy, roasted and toasted malts, brown sugar, earth, and booze. The flavor is the same, but possibly a bit more earthy. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich, smooth mouthfeel. Surprisingly booze-forward for 6.9%.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can; poured black with a light brown head. Aroma was roasted with a lot of earth and fruit. Some sweetness and caramel. Flavor was a bit messy. Sickly sweet at times; a bit one note. Not great.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz can pours with a mahogany colored body that has amber edges and supports a thin dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up roasted malts, some earthy malts, a dash of chocolate and then faint dark fruity ester notes. The taste begins with a nice mix of sweet malts, earthy maltiness and some dark roasted malts. To midway a mild earthy wet tobacco and chocolate sensation join in and their addition fits smoothly into the overall flavor scheme. These notes proceed into the finish where a thin ribbon of sweet dark fruity esters murmurs to the surface. This all comes together very well and a good example of why I enjoy this style.
