750ml bottle. 2007 vintage. Poured a deeper amberish color with a smaller sized off white head. Nutty, caramel, dark fruits, and some vanilla. Medium alcohol in the finish ... overall aged nicely.

750 ml bottle shared by foppa78- thanks a lot, Mat! Pours a hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Very sweet caramel malts, with some backing smoked malts, earth, dark and tropical fruits, honey, brown sugar, and mild spice. Maybe some vanilla in there, too. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, gritty mouthfeel. Has aged very well since 2007.

750mL bottle, bottled in June 2007. Poured clear medium garnet with a dense, well-retained beige head.. looked very good in the glass. The aroma picked up sweet caramel, vanilla, and nutty notes with broken-down hops, somewhat sour malts, rye, and peppery alcohol around.. finished warm with aged dark fruits, caramel, vanilla, and warmth. Heavier-bodied with just enough carbonation to keep it moving.. the warmth worked surprisingly well.. this aged gracefully.

12/12/12/14/12

Bottle via a trade. Pours with a hazed orange body and an off-white head. Aromas are oxidized, orange, cereal, oatmeal, brown sugar and marmalade. Flavors are bitter, oxidized, papery hops, raisins, light coffee, caramel and a touch vinous. Still decent carbonation, but over the hill.

Bottle 2007 vintage thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a amber/copper topped with a small head. Aroma was caramel, toffee, citrus, pit fruit, and some rich malts. Taste was more of the sweetness, and hops. Along with a nice fruit ending another nice brew from Upstream.

Bottle:   Dirty caramel, dark, moderate to large foamy head, fairly nice lacing.   Musty caramel malt nose, smells like an aged Barley Wine for sure.   Very pale and muted candied citrus peel.   Surprisingly a bit more citrus peel like flavor than I got on the nose.   Slight alcohol, malty, very soft hops, backside has a whole lot of caramel malt.   Its like the hops are gone and all thats left are the malts.   Not complaining, but I can tell this one certainly has some time on it.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Certainly smooth, it finishes with a bit of basement and mustiness.   This is an aged Barley Wine that still has some legs, simple, yet elegant.   Good stuff!   Thanks Jeff for the rare opportunity to try this one!

750ml bottle. June ’07 bottle courtesy of Eric (ditmier). And, I do mean courtesy, he sent me this as a free unsolicited gift. Pours a murky brown color with a small beige head that slowly recedes to an 1/8 inch and holds. The aroma is classic barleywine with roasted barley, dark fruits, molasses and a light whiff of booze. The flavor is rich with toffee, leather, tobacco, caramel, raisins, plums, sweet brown sugar and hoppy biter nuts. The palate is smooth and creamy with lively carbonation. The finish is long with lingering leather and biter walnuts. Overall: Finally I get the elusive Nebraska tick, and its more than just a tick, this a very tasty brew. For thew record--I am a former Nebraskan and went I college at UNL, but I left home in 1975 and as it tuns out I never made it back. The fact that I had never rated a Nebraska beer has been a tick in my craw, I wanted this worse than a Framboos(well almost). So, this proved to be a particularly satisfying and Zen-like experience. My hats off to you Eric, may we meet and share a brewski someday.

Bottle from June of 2007 - Thanks JohnGalt1!! Pours a clear copper with a small beige head...aroma is caramel malt and grain, sweet and rich fruitiness...flavour is sweet as well, sticky caramel and cherry, very soft carbonation increases its richness, but it’s quickly tempered with a burnt sugar bitterness and biting alcohol...great to try, and could sip on a glass throughout the night...
