Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates May 6, 2004 Updated: Jun 27, 2006Cloudy medium amber with a fizzy head. Decent hop character in this one, with a sweetart candy tinge at the finish. On cask, it highlights the citric character and brings out a more smooth body. This was the hands-down favorite "local beer" for me while I lived in Omaha. Guess in the end, it’s just an average or slightly above-average offering, but I could drink gallons of it, too. hey_kevin (1261), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jan 28, 2002 My favorite of their beers. Appetizing hoppiness balanced by a nice caramel maltiness with some depth. BBB63 (3767), La Porte, Indiana, USA Dec 14, 2003 Medium amber hue with very good head and lace. The aroma is very fruity (lemon, apple, grapefruit) with additional hints of buttery biscuit, aromatic hops, and leather yeast esters. The taste is a touch piney and grapefruity. A solid malt bakcground supports the acidic and bitter finish. Hints of sweet wood appears every once in a while. Lively and crsip mouthfeel. Good ESB, not fully tradional but not west coast style either, quaffable. tjthresh (1275), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Oct 7, 2007 On tap at the brewpub
Dark amber with not a lot of aroma to speak of. I really kind of like the flavor. Its malty with a strong bitter finish. I enjoyed that. Its not really special at all, but I’d drink it regularly. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 3, 2005 Nice amber brown color. Light in the hop department for an ESB, but probably Upstream’s efforts to appeal to more of the masses. Not a bad beer, but lacking in character.
