COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Upstream India Pale Ale is a golden amber ale that is full in body with a medium flavored malt profile that is balanced with high bitterness and a refreshingly bold hop flavor and aroma. Upstream India Pale Ale is our highest hopped beer with the bitterness weighing in at 65 IBU’s. The rich malts and increased alcohol content help to balance the bitterness and create a truly extraordinary beer drinking experience. (6.3% ABV, 63 IBU’s, 1.061 OG,)

The very first beer that I tasted at the 2003 GABF. Only because Joe really wanted to get the state of New Hampshire in his ratings. So here it is, the state of NH representing at GABF! Mild IPA with little hops. Very drinkable with slight citrus tastes. Slightly acidic but mild IPA at best.

GABF 2003: Clear deep yellow color, flowery hops aroma, average body, ends lightly bitter without anything backing it up.

pleasant hop and malty aroma, light malt bacround with nice mix of hops, then finnishes flat like the rest of teir beers, (same yeast?)

Golden and clear with a frothy white head. Light carbonation, but it still had a little crispness to it. Malts were a little underwhelming. Hops were flowery and piney ... became rather bitter in the finish and aftertaste. Kind of became "hot," also. Overall, I found it a little unbalanced and too light in the malt department.

Draught: The beer pours a slightly dark golden color. Just a bit hazy. There was a good amount of an off-white head. The aroma is mostly of hops, mainly being of pine. Decent malty body and fairly well balanced taste with the hops. A strong dose of piney hops in the aftertaste. The pine is a bit too strong and detracts from the beer.

An extremely pale IPA thin, one-dimensional maltiness, and an ugly blast of uninteresting hops. Not for me.
