750 ml bottle shared by dbsdelight- thanks, Dan, for bringing this back from the swimming trials! Brewed April 2011, bottled September 2011. Bottle 188/500. Pours a deep, semi-cloudy brownish amber with no head. The aroma is a blast of vanilla and butterscotch and smells a lot like creme brulee, with fudge, caramel, hazelnut, chocolate, molasses, and just a faint hint of rye and wood. The flavor is the same- creme brulee, chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla, and the rest of the same notes in the aroma with a little dark fruit. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, smooth, thin mouthfeel. A little sweet for my tastes but certainly interesting.

Upstream barrel aged impy brown. 750ml bottle. Bottle 61 of 500. Thanks to drew for sharing this...
Pours a deeper muddled cola dark brown hue and topped with a thin to
medium fluffy light beige head... Sweet nutty brown formula with
vanilla and bourbon notes, a touch of butterscotch which is somewhat
expected for the style. A somewhat fluffy texture is purveyed, not a
whole lot of heaviness... Subtle buttery and whiskey barrel notes in
the flavor which gets more apparent as it warms. Nuttiness and a light
chocolate quality is apparent as well.

750 thanks to Wes. Bottled Sept 2011. 406 of 500. Nice cocoa tasting body. Soured nosed. Bit of raisin. Vanilla. That slight sweetness must be the lactose. Little bit of whiskey from the barrel. Nice.

750 ml bottle shared by Drew. Thanks, bud! The Rye Barrel version.. See ratings for it here, assume it’s all as such. Pours well hazed brownish ruby hue with a healthy foamy thick light brown head that laces pretty well overall. Aromas are brown malts and oak, touches of spirit, Templeton, and caramel. Toffee, toast, and vanilla. Touche of toast, molasses, and cocoa linger on, faint anise. Initial is medium bodied, offering toast and brown malts up front, toffee and cocoa, gentle anise and more earthy brown malts. Touches of molasses, spirit and oak, vanilla and Rye spirit. Gentle coffee, growing into toast, cocoa dusting, more spirit and gentle heat into the backend. Really inviting, warm and crisp, good toast and dry roast, cocoa, faint coffee. Crisp, vanilla really grows as the barrel element takes over into middle and finishes well. Quite nice. Templeton gives it’s own unique play and spice.. Gives some reminders of Pullman Reserve, but I still prefer that to this. A bit sweet.. Some gentle dark fruit.

Sampled from the tap at 2011 FOBAB. Poured a deep brown with an earthy brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of dark grains with some sweet chocolate and a hint of rye. Flavor was similar with dark grains and sweet chocolate backed by a hint of bitter chocolate and rye.
