A terrific balance of citrus, earth, honey & oak. The Brewmaster's favorite.

Bottle at FoBAB 9. Pours a good looking orangey color with a fluffy head. The nose alright, a bit phenolic, plastic and farmhouse aromatics. White pepper and some citrus as well. On tasting, it’s a big beer, alcohol apparent but the phenols really distract and prevent it from ever transcending. Nose citrusy esters and hop profile, just not quite right. Okay.

750 ml bottle from foppa78- thanks a ton, Mat! Bottle 202/1191. Brewed July 07, bottled August 08. Pours a hazy orange-gold color with virtually no head. I got the first and last pour from the bottle, and there was plenty of reddish yeast sediment in the end of the bottle. Aroma of sweet and bready malts, apricot, grape, honey, oak, fresh melon, graham cracker, and a mild funk throughout it all. Same goes for the flavor, with grapes, lemon citrus, apricot, honey, oak, caramel malts, earth, brown sugar, and a hint of yogurt. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, chewy, funky mouthfeel. Hell of a beer. Really glad I got hooked up with this.

Bottle shared during 2011 RBWG - Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Aroma is esters, grain, yeast, and light spice. Flavor is tart esters, sweet grain, and light oak. Light to medium body. A nice beer.

A: The beer pours a pale golden color with a bit of yeasty haze to it. S: A light tartness to the nose in the form of lemon and apples. A nice oak note to it and some sweet vanilla, too. A hint of citrus peel and just the most mild funk. T: The flavor is very much the same (not surprisingly). Oak and mild funk notes (mostly grassy) with some sweet citrus and a bit of citrus peel. Lightly sweet with a mild lemony tartness. M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation. O: I liked this beer but it didn’t really blow me away. Sort of just a lightly tart Belgian Strong Ale.

bottle-shared at RBWG. I FINALLY have a NE rating now! cheers to who brought this one! hazy orange hue with no head. funky musty nose-green grapes, some wet grains, band aid, lite spice. WOW sour flavors here-vinegar, sour grapes, lactic acid and that band aid quality that was in the nose as well, Big sourness up front though on every sip followed by alot of vinegar, Decent, but nothing really all that special. Im glad to have had this beer though since it is one of the most coveted from this brewery.

Sample from bottle @ RBWG. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is tart/sour citrus with additional sour apple notes, pale malts, and champagne yeast. The flavor is a great drinking tart fruity blend with pale malts and some honey sweetness. There is a woodiness that smooths some of the sour qualities out. I found this to be very drinkable.

Alkoholisch kirschiger Antrunk, dunkel. 7/9/9/10//9
