Commercial Description:
Our newest seasonal beer is a brown porter. Originally brewed in England as a favorite of the working class, the porter style was the precursor to stout. This beer is dark brown in color with a subtle reddish hue. We have included a large amount of chocolate and caramel grains and a hint of roasted barley, giving it a nice malted body. It's lightly hopped with Fuggles and Columbus hops so as not to overpower the maltiness.

I am not sure if this is the same seasonal porter? The wait staff didn’t have much info? A malt and chocolate aroma. A mellow smooth chocolate and dark malt flavor. Pretty light on hops. Easy to drink and refreshing, but not very robust for the type.

on tap at the brewpub. Thick creamy head, dark in color but when held to the light amber highlights are visible. Citrus scent with a hint of smoke and cocoa overtones. Milky and sweet taste indicates presence of lactose. Like drinking a chocolate shake without the ice cream. Good mouth feel. Flavor is a little sour, but ends ok. not bad.

Light and smooth with a 1/2-inch whipped head. Oddly bitter up front, then mellows ... thought I got a choco-java at first, but any flavor faded into near nothingness the more I drank.
