COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian Pales consume the Belgian brewing scene and were initially brewed to compete with pilsners during the WWII time frame. They differ from other regional pale ale varieties by traditionally being less bitter, using aged hops for a delicate hop finish, and boasting sweet to toasty malt overtones. Our Belgian Pale is pale straw yellow and will be crowned with a thick rocky white head. This will be our last of this year’s wonderful series of summer style Belgian Wheat beers.

Sampled at the 2009 Great Nebraska Beer Festival. Pours rich gold with a big white head. Sulphurous yeasty aroma. Hugely pronounced palate of Quinine! This seems weird. The aroma is strong cat urine but the brewer says the hops are noble and saaz. This is a strong beer and an excellent beer but just not for me.

I must’ve just missed bu11zye. On tap @ the brewpub. Clear golden with a small off-white head, fading to a thick film. A little hard to nose--some floral and citrus hops with light caramel and Belgian notes. Flavor is very fruity--some berries (blackberries and strawberries) with a good amount of hop bitterness follow through to a wheaty finish. The wheat and berries were surprising, especially the wheat--didn’t know there was wheat in a pale. . . Bitterness peaked @ a 3-4. Moderate carbonation with a light to medium body. Much tastier--and stranger--than the aroma.

(Draught) Pours a hazy golden body with a medium off-white head and nice web lacing. Aroma of citrus, florals, Belgian yeast, and coriander. Flavor of florals, grass, clove, coriander, and Belgian yeast.
