COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This French-style Saison was brewed in collaboration with our good friends at The Royale to celebrate the Feast Day of Louis IX (Saint Louis). There not-so-coincidentally happens to be a statue of Louis IX that sits atop ’Art Hill’, which (as you may know) is entitled "Apotheosis", in tribute to our beloved city of St. Louis.

Growler, freshly tapped keg, Late Feb 2012: strong banana and fresh sourdough aroma...dusty around the edges. Extremely cloudy yellow straw, thin ivory ring at the edges. Slightly tart flavour, with a touch of citrus fruit, butterscotch and bitter vanilla. Palatte is very full, evenly carbonated and lively. Great beer. Great Growler.

500mL bottle poured into a German Pilsner glass -- Poured a mostly clear gold with a nice white head. Aroma of light fruit, bread, and malt. Sweet slight funk. Easy to drink. That’s a great Sunday afternoon Saison.

Sample at Boulevardia 2015. Comes a mostly clear gold with a nice white head. Aroma of fruit, bread, and malt. Taste is banana, bread, malt, and some spice. Pretty good.

A descent saison. Would probably warrant a higher score if I hadn’t had so many good beers this trip.

Tap - average size foamy head, medium gold color, nice sweet fruity ester aroma and flavor, mild yeasty spice, pretty good overall but would prefer it a little drier (vs sweet) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. No code date. Appearance: light golden and cloudy, with a thick bubbled white foam head. Aroma: Bready, crackery malt. A bit papery. Apple and pear esters are there but restrained. Taste: Bready, wheat like malt, white pepper, and pear esters. Apple stands out on the swallow. Definitely has the taste of a saison, but a bit muddled in flavor. Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation. Finish: Belgian esters of apple and pear linger, with balance leaning more malty than bitter. Overall: Feels like a rustic saison, but fuller malt base, muddled flavors, and not nearly as dry a finish as it should. Drinkable, but not true to style.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a nice head. Aroma is quite herbal with citrus to round it out. Taste of citrus, light touch of malt and grain. Decent bitterness and a slightly dry finish. Moderate body, has a bit of an grainy feel to it. Nice beer from a local brewer.

Nearly clear. Loads of banana. Quite yeasty. Floral aroma. Tasted at Tony B’s bachelor party.

Draft at taproom. Pours yellow with a white head. Nose is a bit estery for my tastes. Doesn’t leave much lacing in the glass. Not getting much funk or barnyard on the tongue. Fairly soft mouthfeel. A bit of juicy fruit flavor with a clean finish. It’s not a bad beer or a poorly made one. It just doesn’t feel like a saison to me.

Honey hops flavor with a fizzy long finish and murky clear gold color with a foamy head. Light and tasty.

Had on tap at their place. Pours a hazy light yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is banana and slight bubblegum. Flavor follows and finishes dry. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
