3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 iwantalambic (1478) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 24, 2012Growler, freshly tapped keg, Late Feb 2012: strong banana and fresh sourdough aroma...dusty around the edges. Extremely cloudy yellow straw, thin ivory ring at the edges. Slightly tart flavour, with a touch of citrus fruit, butterscotch and bitter vanilla. Palatte is very full, evenly carbonated and lively. Great beer. Great Growler.

On tap at brewery. Seemed to be lacking some of the spicyness and fruitiness that i expect from a saison. nice golden clear beer. Taste had some slight oxidation/cardboard, but not too much. pretty good, overall.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 beernbourbon (1148) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Tap at tasting room. Pour is lightly hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is light light spice, faint grassy malt, and a touch of hop. Flavor is watery spicy, light spice, and light bread. I love this brewery, but this was not a great beer.

draft... not a huge fan of this, well crafted but its a one noted sweet saison, good for what it is, no depth
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kwoeltje (2066) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - SEP 24, 2011
(draught) had this weeks ago - thought I had already put this in. Hazy orange gold. Yeast, spice, herbal aroma. Flavor was yeast, saison spice, a lot of citrus/fruit for a saison. Grassy hops finish. Interesting saison.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 vyvvy (3268) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - SEP 16, 2011
Pours hazy golden / yellow with a sudsy white head. The aroma is very fruity / peachy with light spiciness, saison yeastiness and slight basement/rusticness. Medium smooth body with some shapiness on the finish and moderate carbonation. The flavor starts with the aroma traits and very heavy on the yeastiness fruitiness along with some spicy hoppiness coming out on the finish. there is some earthiness that comes out as the beer warms. Nice saison.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jandd1983 (1578) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - SEP 5, 2011
It poured an orange golden color with a white head. Dry earthy herbal hop tones, a hint of lemon and citrus notes. Load of orange peel with a lightly drying finish. Some hop tones, and a bit grainy, with a hint of apple. A very good saison.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (4451) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2011
2700th rating. The cask version pours a murky, dull, fruit juice color with some bubbles around the inner edge that fade quickly. The draft version pours a murky fruit juice color as well, but a lighter shade. Aroma of light, summery farmhouse funk that gets more pungent as it warms, peaches, apricots, hay, wet grains, and grass. Flavor shows plenty of funk in both versions, with the same apricot and peach fruitiness, plums, cereal, grass, hay, and something almost creamy or milky. Medium-bodied, with a funky mouthfeel and low carbonation. The description hints at a ’French farmhouse ale’ but Florian (UCBC’s brewer) and everyone is calling this a saison, so I guess it’s that and not a biere de garde. Cool beer either way.
