COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This French-style Saison was brewed in collaboration with our good friends at The Royale to celebrate the Feast Day of Louis IX (Saint Louis). There not-so-coincidentally happens to be a statue of Louis IX that sits atop ’Art Hill’, which (as you may know) is entitled "Apotheosis", in tribute to our beloved city of St. Louis.

Growler, freshly tapped keg, Late Feb 2012: strong banana and fresh sourdough aroma...dusty around the edges. Extremely cloudy yellow straw, thin ivory ring at the edges. Slightly tart flavour, with a touch of citrus fruit, butterscotch and bitter vanilla. Palatte is very full, evenly carbonated and lively. Great beer. Great Growler.

500 ml bottle purchased as a single at Bombay Wines and Spirits in St Charles, Missouri. 2016-03-03 on date on the bottle. The pour is clear golden with tons of active carbonation bubbles that rise to the surface and build up a one inch foamy white head. The aroma is banana clove, hay and general Saison yeast. The taste is the clove and hay of the nose up front, followed close behind by the banana and Saison yeast. There is a touch of citrus in the back as well. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and a dry yeasty finish. Tasty.

Bottle. Light orange with a misty haze. The head is pillowy firm and sticks around for quite a while. The drink is prototypically saison-ish, but mellowed for the American palate ... with a mellow hint of herbal sweetness, but at it’s core just an easy-going light ale. (#6304, 6/4/2016)

500ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, slightly floral and dusty, yeasty aroma, hints of apple, lots of clove, a wheaty touch. Taste is pale and wheat malty, notes of clove, hints of apple and pear, a minimally floral and dusty, yeasty touch. Slightly clumsy.

(bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and diminishing frothy head. Yeast-spicy aroma with delicately grainy malt, caramel, as well as fruity accents of citrus, ripe apples and banana. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a prickly carbonation. Slightly caramelly malty and mildly wheaty base with yeasty notes, citrus and banana; medium-dry, moderately sweet and slightly fruity finish with yeasty spice. Solid. 10.II.16

kindly shared by bartlebier @ his cellar clearing tasting; a thoroughly balanced, easy-drinking Saison, classic in taste (pepper, almonds, marzipan) and dryness. Nice.

50cl bottle bb02/2016 shared during Freiburg 2015 Jolly Cellar Clearing. - Dirty beige pour, reticent foam. Sweetish, peppered aromas of both stale Hefeweizen (peppery clove), bière de garde honey malt caramels and a whiff of saison skunk - mostly fruity caramels alas. Honeygolden body dried out by a nice white peppery strain, again riding the middle between Hefe-Garde-saison, leaving masses of un-dried wheat/malt sugars behind: green grape, white apricot, banana (+peel), + heather honey and lavendar spice. Slightly unpleasant slick mouthfeel. Nonetheless enough enjoyable aspects to keep the palate busy guessing - even if at only 5,3% indicated abv (Dérer Import) it could be much more moreish.
