This French-style Saison was brewed in collaboration with our good friends at The Royale to celebrate the Feast Day of Louis IX (Saint Louis). There not-so-coincidentally happens to be a statue of Louis IX that sits atop ’Art Hill’, which (as you may know) is entitled "Apotheosis", in tribute to our beloved city of St. Louis.

Growler, freshly tapped keg, Late Feb 2012: strong banana and fresh sourdough aroma...dusty around the edges. Extremely cloudy yellow straw, thin ivory ring at the edges. Slightly tart flavour, with a touch of citrus fruit, butterscotch and bitter vanilla. Palatte is very full, evenly carbonated and lively. Great beer. Great Growler.

Taster at the brewpub during RBSG. Golden orange color, mildly hazy. Thin ring of white head. Some loose dots of lace. Awesome lightly funky nose on this, very interesting. Citrus peel, zest, light spice. Medium-plus body. Smooth, sort of soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate sweet taste. Light dry finish. Solid, enjoyable, flavorful full saison.

In the glass, it is cloudy orange. It has a fruity nose w/ a bit of mango, citrus and floral. It is creamy but w/ somewhat prickly carbonation. Moderate sweetness brings out some corriander character. It finishes a bit sweet and overall is a pretty tasty brew.

Tap @ brewery during RBSG 2014 Meet and Greet: Hazy golden hue with a lively but fading head, okay lace. Moderate spicy French Saison yeast esters along with a touch of banana, spelt, husk, honey, flowers and that "minerally water profile" found in almost each and every one of their biers. The taste also display a touch of candied pear and apple. The mouth feel was okay, finished quite dry.

Frothy whitish head atop sits as a nice layer, good ring laces ok overall. Aromas are grainy, yeasty elements throw fruity pear, gentle citrus, apple and some spicy yeastiness. Farmhouse, bread and grainy elements. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied with gentle fruity life, grainy and yeasty life. Banana, pear, straw with gentle lemon, grains of paradise and crusty bread. A bit bitter, touch tart into the backend with gentle fruit life, yeast is firmly in the drivers seat.
