COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewmaster Florian admittedly hasn’t dabbled in ciders too often. So when he described UCBC’s very first cider, Bushelhead, as estery and a little ’winey’ we weren’t sure if he wasn’t being a bit ’whiney’ himself. So we’ve declared that besides being a cider, "Bushelhead" is a homonym meaning ’winey’, ’strong cider’, or ’whiney’. Thus our tagline - "Bushelhead - A bushelhead, bushelhead created by bushelhead brewers.’ Stats: ABV - 7.3%, IBU’s - N/A, OG - N/A (Small Nonic)

Smells off. Nearly clear. Pretty bad cider, quite sour and dissapointing.

It poured a gold color with a small white head. The aroma was very tart with an apple smell. The taste was very similar to the aroma. I am not a big cider fan, but this was a very drinkable cider, good job.

Sampled at Urban Chestnuts Wolpertinger - 1st anniversary - Pours pale yellow with a small white head. The aroma is fairly faint with some dry apples being about all I get. Medium / light body with low carbonation for a cider. The flavor starts out with raw earthy apples and some sourness. It has a taste that reminds me of the seeds of apples. The finish has a very dry apple flavor and some pepper. Nice cider.

Tasted at the 1st annual Urban Chestnut - Wolpertinger beer festival from tap into beer boot sampler. Poured a slighly cloudy light golden color of, well, apple juice. Almost no head. Strong apple aroma with some spicy fermentation phenols, definite alcohol. Flavor was crisp, tart, slightly sour, almost astringent. Light body, spritzy, effervescent and metallic carbonation, very reminiscent of Champagne. Dry finish. It’s true this was more like an Italian apple wine than an English beer-ish cider. As such, it didn’t appear very popular among the beer festival goers.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2012 (sample at the tasting room) pale gold with white head. Tart apple aroma. Flavor is tart apple. Very light with a very dry finish. I’m not much of a cider fan in general, but this one was more interesting than most.

Draft served in a small nonic glass at the brewery. Pours a clear, bright, light gold color with a tiny white head. The aroma is initially a big whiff of sweat, with tart and sweet apples following. The flavor is mostly tart apples, finishing with some almost lemon-like tartness. Very fresh and crisp. Light-bodied, with a dry, tart mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Loved the finish on this one.
