COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Dunkel style is what many refer to as the original beer of Munich and the surrounding countryside and villages (Dorf in German) of Bavaria. This everyday beer ranges in color from amber to dark brown, depending on the amount of Munich and roasted malts used. Ours is a deep reddish brown with a rich malty flavor. The sweetness of the malt is balanced by the use of another Bavarian friend...the Hellertau hop...in this specific case Hersbrucker grown near Wolnzach, Hallertau. OG 13.2 Plato (Willi Becher)

On tap at Village Tavern - pretty bland and uninspired. Not a lot going on. Dark but no rich malty character or much of a nose. Meh.

Sweet toasted malt nose. Lovely deep brown color. Thick sweet taste with a light spicy end. Something unbalanced about it but overall nice brew.

Pours out a very gorgeous looking deep brown color. Lovely frothy tan head. Rich and malty. Very smooth. Nicely balanced. Dry bittersweet finish. I am really loving the stuff Urban Chestnut is putting out!

Drank from a pint glass, poured from a 500ml bottle. Could have used some late addition hops on this beer. Pours a beautiful deep, dark, clear slightly reddish color, with a bit of white head. Tastes like an everyday dunkle nothing special.
