COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale Wheat Doppelbock - This Maifest special is sweet, soothing, and a deceptive delight. So much so that it may deceive thy sight. Should you start to see visions of Elf King fame, heed the warnings from where this beer gets its name. Spelled out clearly in the Goethe poem...Hold on tight to a loved one and head for home.

On tap @ Urban Chestnut. Turbid orange pour with a white head. Huge banana and clove nose. Sweet bread, dough, and a lot of white pepper. There’s a really nice bread and banana sweetness to the palate. Hint of sugar, pear, and apple. Some clove and white pepper spiciness and a light bitterness on the finish. Enjoyable.

Hazed orange pour wth fluffy white head and lace. Aroma is a touch of orange zest and some fruity esters. Large brett with a touch of a tinny flavor with the fruity esters here as well. Medium bodied and a touch fizzy.

Taster at the brewpub during RBSG. Mostly hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Good citrus, apricot nose. Light yeast influence. Bready malt. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Full feel. More dry finish. Zesty taste, light to moderate bitter, moderate sweet. Solid, tasty stuff. Well-integrated; it works.

Draft flight on tap at the brewpub (St. Louis, MO). Pours a pale golden yellow hue, a touch darker with decent haziness through the body. Frothy whitish head atop is a decent layer, good stick around and lacing overall. Aromas are a bit fruity, earthy and gentle bready malts, gentle citrus fruit and pear. Initial is a bit fruity, decent body with some yeastiness, flaked wheat and firm fruitiness. Touches of pear, banana and nice floral elements. Not heavy as it is pretty well fermented, bready and straw elements with some nice citrus elements. A touch sweet, faint dryness tapers out as we finish with justy a touch of prickliness on the palate. Not bad

This is very cloudy orange w/ a long-lasting head of fine bubbles. it has a herbal lemon nose and is a bit sweeet w/ a sort of exaggerated lemon flavor. There is a strong clovey, earthy bitterness and is sticky sweet w/ less banana than I’d expect for the style. The carbonation is brisk and crisp. This isn’t the best example of the style but not bad.
