COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale Wheat Doppelbock - This Maifest special is sweet, soothing, and a deceptive delight. So much so that it may deceive thy sight. Should you start to see visions of Elf King fame, heed the warnings from where this beer gets its name. Spelled out clearly in the Goethe poem...Hold on tight to a loved one and head for home.

500ml bottle. Pours a hazy light straw color with a foamy head that fades. Aroma of wheat, yeast, banana, clove with bit of fruit and spice in the background. Taste of wheat, yeast, bit of yeast and light fruit with bit of malt sweetness. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body, smooth with a refreshing feel. Not hint of the 8.3% ABV. Enjoyable beer for a local brewer.

Draft at Bailey’s Range. Pours yellow and cloudy with a white head. Doesn’t leave any lacing. Floral hop notes on the nose that have a bit of perfume to them. Nice floral essence on the tongue. Finishes clean. I’m not sure if it’s a doppleback but whatever it is it’s nice.

16oz bottle. No code date. Appearance: pale golden and cloudy with moderate white foam cap. Aroma: Heavy clove notes, but less banana than typical weizen yeast. Taste: Rich maltiness with clove spice and soft breadiness. Yeast flavor a bit subdued, and a slight medicinal bite on the back end. Mouthfeel: Light to moderate body for style, with moderate-high carbonation. Finish: Bready with clove spice on the finish. A bit of harsh alcohol. Overall: An average weizenbock. A bit harsh on the finish doesn’t leave it as clean as Aventinus or Vitus, but there are worse examples.

The beer pours a hazy golden color (due to the yeast) with a large white head that fades somewhat slowly. The aroma blends wheat, white pepper, and hints of banana, and the taste is slightly sweet, mildly umami, and a touch sour with an aftertaste that is full of wheat with banana and boozy undercurrents lingering. The palate has a slick texture, medium body, and a soft carbonation.

On tap at the shaved duck in STL. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Full bodied. Wheaty some yeast. Really nice beer. Slightly sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a hazy lemon gold with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells yeasty with a bit of banana and a LOT of clove. Tastes like it smells with a bit of wheat as well. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Not bad, but forgettable.

Vom Fass, goldgelb trüb, leicht heftig sauer in der Nase, frisch im Antrunk, süßlich alkoholischer Geschmack, schön frischer weizenbock

On tap @ Urban Chestnut. Turbid orange pour with a white head. Huge banana and clove nose. Sweet bread, dough, and a lot of white pepper. There’s a really nice bread and banana sweetness to the palate. Hint of sugar, pear, and apple. Some clove and white pepper spiciness and a light bitterness on the finish. Enjoyable.

Hazed orange pour wth fluffy white head and lace. Aroma is a touch of orange zest and some fruity esters. Large brett with a touch of a tinny flavor with the fruity esters here as well. Medium bodied and a touch fizzy.
