COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale Wheat Doppelbock - This Maifest special is sweet, soothing, and a deceptive delight. So much so that it may deceive thy sight. Should you start to see visions of Elf King fame, heed the warnings from where this beer gets its name. Spelled out clearly in the Goethe poem...Hold on tight to a loved one and head for home.

Pour is a hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma is nice and ester yeasty with a big clove and orange peel. Flavor is definitely on the sweeter side with some wheat malt, a slight banana and clove thing with finishing notes of citrus and alcohol. Decent beer but the only knock is that the strong clove in the aroma did not carry over to the flavor.

Sample at Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar. Cloudy orange-gold color with a medium white head that recedes slowly to a film. Patches of lacing on the glass. Grainy malt, bananas and wheat in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of bready malt, cloves and bananas. The finish is malty up front with banana esters in the aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft pour at GTMW 2013. Pours a hazed gold color with a little white head. Notes of wheat, sugars, fruits, bready malts, banana chips, clove and other mellow spices. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, wheaty mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Blindfolded I could tell this was a UCBC beer, which is neither good nor bad thing. Just an unmistakable character in their beers, and this is no exception. Nice to taste it again; it’s been a while.

Draft at Urban Chestnut. Blonde Weizenbock. Pours golden and hazed, creamy and sticky white head. Nose is candy like with a good yeasty expression of bananas and spice. On tasting, moderate bitterness and quite sweet. A bit too candy-like for my tastes but solid.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy yellow/orange with a white head. The aroma has smooth clean full wheat, banana, spices (more than the expected clove), vanilla and lightly cooked bread. It has a medium / full body with fairly subtle carbonation. The flavor starts with breadiness, dull banana, spice and very heavy maltiness. The finish has lots of spice, richness and alcohol. This was okay, but the sweetness and alcohol taste were a bit much for me.

Pours a cloudy pale gold with a thin white head that stays. Has a spicy aroma. Has a grassy, hoppy, sweet malt taste along with a bit of hops .

jandd1983 (2085) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUN 20, 2013
Sampled at the W&C Fest 2013. It poured a clear golden amber color with a white head. The aroma was solid malt with subtle sugars, hidden hops and some mild honey fruit scents. The taste was smooth and sweet with just the perfect amount of bitterness and again subtle honey fruit in the finish. The palate was medium smooth somewhat creamy and finishes dry. Very well done.

On tap at brewery. Pours cloudy orange like a typical wheat beer. Smells a bit like bubbilicious gum and a bit of lemon. Tastes like citrusy wheat. Nice carbonation but the lasting finish tastes like stale wheat. Too bad

Real smooth. Wheat. Some citrus. Cloudy gold. Lacing. Another very drinkable urban chestnut brew.

(tap at Maifest) very cloudy yellow gold with white head. Aroma of sweet wheat malt. Flavor is yeast, light wheat malt, with bock sweetness. You don’t notice the alcohol.
