COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The inspiration for this beer was to brew a nice ‘session IPA’. We’ve basically achieved this by taking a standard American IPA and ‘brewing it out’ to about half the stats. Dry-hopped with Willamette, Mt. Hood and Cascade hops. ABV- 4.0%, IBU’s- 25, OG – 10.5 Plato (Tall Pilsner)

Draft at the brewpub. A session IPA at 4%- love the idea. Pours a cloudy amber color, more yellow-orange around the edges and narrower parts of the glass, with a small, just barely off-white head. Nice aroma of floral and herbal hops, a little pine, caramel and pale malts, dry grains, and very light citrus. The flavor doesn’t quite stand up to the nose, but follows it closely- floral hops, some herbs and citrus, caramel and pale malts, and dry grainy, woody notes. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and an earthy mouthfeel. Not overly bitter, with a dry finish. Does exactly what it advertises.

Draft at the brewery. Coppery golden with a smallish off white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is very pleasant with citrus hops leading. The flavor is even nicer. Again, citrusy hops. Applesauce, caramel, grain, and a hint of spice. The hops are both US and European, probably Hallertau. There is a bit of grass. The hops light up the tongue nicely. I love the Ow ABV. Nice.

growler... not a big fan of this, bright gold with good carbonation... the nose has a weird bo note that thankfully doesn’t come through on the taste, even though it doesn’t taste great, ok

Pours amber / brown with a dense white head. The aroma has crisp citrus and piny hops along with thin toasty malt, spiciness, light nuttiness and and overall crispness. Medium / think body with underscored semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with a malt presence that’s toasty, paper and nutty with dry caramel and some spicy hops. The finish is hoppier with more spice, some pine and some grassiness. Some minerals show through as it warms. Nice.

On tap at Urban Chestnut brewpub. Hazy amber with a thin tan head. Aroma of floral hops with resinous hops and pine as well and nice malt bill to balance things out. Taste is nice and hoppy with citrus and resinous hops, caramel. Finishes up with light bitterness. A nice session IPA – I wish the German brewers in my state could make an IPA like this.

tap-pours cloudy orange w,ith quite a bit of haze and a soapy white head with some decent lacing. sweet grainy nose of popcorn (not diacytl) earthy hops, grains and sweet malt (carmel?) . doesnt come across as an ipa to me, but more ofa pale ale. not much hops really hence why i dont think its an ipa. good for what it is. hard to describe.

tap. notes of bitter grass and juicy grapefruit, with a touch of orange and dry herbs. would prefer a bit more balance to session this all night, as it is, it is a bit too abrasively bitter. but still quite enjoyable to drink, and surely enjoyed the glass of this i had. clean, well made, solid beer. happy to see more session ipas.

Tasted 3/31/11. Sampler from the Brewpub. Filtered with a golden honey hue. Webbed ring of white head. Aromas of grassy, piney and citrus hops. Light to medium bodied and very sessionable. Bready, grainy, toasty malt character with a good balance between the malts and hops. There’s a slight lean towards the malts which really adds a creamy and rounded palate. Definitely easy and session, but albeit purposely, a little light in the body.
