Drink it straight to appreciate the light tartness... Or repeat these words "Ich bin ein Berliner" and add a bit of elderflower, raspberry or Blackcurrant syrup. Hops: Hallertau Tradition Malts: Wheat malt and two row pilsner

0.5 l bottle from ’Bierkompass’, import label says best before October 2015, presumably bottled about two years ago. Minimally hazy, golden yellow with a large, foamy, almost stable, white head. Sourish, citrusy aroma of lemon, wheat, gooseberry and straw. Moderately sour and citrusy taste of lemon, gooseberry, white grapes, straw and wheat, followed by a short, moderately tart and quite dry finish. Thin to medium body, a little astringent and rather effervescent mouthfeel, very lively carbonation. I’m not a huge fan of Berliner Weiße, but that may be due to the poor examples I’ve mainly drunk so far. This is a great example of why it may be called ’Champagne of the North’, it’s fortunately less sour and mellower than many other examples, it’s intensely fruity and has a nice body with a sparkling carbonation. I really like it!

Sampled at RBWG Tampa. Thanks to whoever shared this! Gold pour with a small head. Light lemon meat and other spring fruits. Sort of zesty. Some hay and wheaty funk. Light and zippy. Spritzy carb. OK.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow, high carbonation, big white head. Fine citric tartness on light dusty grain. Fairly foamy mouthfeel, feels consequently light-bodied. Thin hayish malt, Tart - lime and milk acid, light flowery. After beating some carbonation out of it, berry notes, a hint iodine come forth and it becomes quite pleasant and quenching.

Bottle. Hazy pale yellow color with big white head. Aroma is wheaty, with lacto and tart fruits, mostly citrus peel. Taste is wheaty, lightly tart, more lacto and citrus, and a refreshing crisp tart finish. Light-bodied. A good Berliner Weisse with a hint of a bigger wheat body than other examples (probably due to the > 4%). Silky mouthfeel, but with a high crisp carbonation. Great balance. One of the few American Berliner Weisses that I would actually call a Berliner Weisse :D

Grumbo (1219) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JAN 25, 2016
Bottle from bierpost.com. Pours a cloudy pale yellow/amber with an initially large white head soon dissipating to nothing. Aroma of citrus, spice, wheat, sharp but with a hint of sweet syrup. Medium sourness, masks a medium sweetness which develops as the sour subsides. Body is quite light, texture is thin. Finish is a tart/sweet mix. Whilst not a style I typically favour, I liked it.

Säuerlicher, ziemlich trockener Antrunk. Geringe Bitterkeit, sinkende Säure. Starke Karbonisierung, etwas Zitrone. Etwas holzig. 12/11/11/11/12/11

Bottle bbe 15.02.16. Light yellow, strawy coloured beer with a white quickly vanishing white head. Aroma: Lemon, sour, lactic acidity, light wheat malts. Taste: Dry, citrus, tart, light body. No hoppy bitterness. Long lemony acetous finish. Overall: Pretty refreshing beer, with a strong aroma/taste of lemon (that is a bit intense tastewise, almost in an artificial direction). Nevertheless a nice Berliner Weisse.

Bottle. Quite tart with a lemony acidity, lactic notes and honeyish notes. Not really convincing, lacks character somewhat.

Chopper925 (412) - Gross Gerau, GERMANY - OCT 7, 2015
Bottle. Slightly hazy, light yellow color, foamy white head. Distinctive sour, tart smell, reminds me of wet wood, absolutely authentic. Sour taste, dry, nearly no bitterness. Thin texture, very fizzy carbonation. Light touch of wheat in the aftertaste, the sourness fades slowly away. Great to see such a good Berliner Weisse from another country, it’s got fairly hard to get such a good Weisse here in Germany.
