Our Weizenbock is comparable to the barley-based regular Bockbier, but is actually a stronger version of an unfiltered Weissbier. We use approximately 55% wheat malt (German law requires a Weizenbier, regardless of strength, be made from at least 50% wheat). The other 45% of malts are a combination of Munich, Pils, and Caramel. All of which when combined give our "Maifest special" a full-bodied and a rich, satisfying malty finish. Point of fact: while regular Bockbiers are lagers, Weizenbocks are ales. OG - 16.0 Plato.

bottle from strykzone in 4/6 locals trade. another weizenbock = another good beer. some banana, much malt in aroma; darker pour for style (I think). Good flavors - several things happening - it all pulls together well - easy to drink with substance and flavor!!

Pour is a murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is wheat, sugar, dark fruit and cloves. Flavor is a rich caramel malt with a bit of roasted nuts and some brown sugar. Finish leaves some fig on the tongue. This was a well done beer. Maybe missing some of the banana/clove thing but this was a very chewy malty beer with the flavors lingering after the swallow.

Poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, wheat, yeast, banana and clove. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of wheat, caramel, yeast and light clove with a smooth lingering caramel finish.

On tap @ Urban Chestnut. Opaque mahogany pour with a khaki head. Cola, tart dark fruits, and big time dates. A lot of raisin and plum. Quite sweet on the palate, but also some tart dark fruits such as raisin and plum. A nice black cherry note, lots of caramel, cola, and chocolate. A little bit bitter on the finish. A little disappointing.

Cloudy brown pour with off white head and lace. Aroma is brown sugar and a touch of fruit. Sweet brown sugar like malt flavor. Medium bodied and a touch fizzy.

Sampled at Urban Chestnut during RBSG. Pours a dark amber color with white head. Minimal aroma. Nutty, wood, caramel flavors. A bit syrupy. Not great.

Taster on tap at the brewery during RBSG. Hazy amber orange brown color. Thin off-white head. Loose lace. Good banana, fermented musty brown banana, light spice. Smooth, kinda soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate sweet, moderate bitter taste. Solid, flavorful, smooth weizenbock.

Tap @ brewery during RBSG 2014 Meet and Greet: Brownish caramel hue with a fading head but good lace. The aroma has the expected banana, clove, roast and toffee esters as well as a touch of grainy and husky malt notes. The taste seems a tad dumbed down. I expect a more forceful experience from my weizenbocks but this one seems clean but short. Just a very faint darker fruit component from by ale fermentation. There is also a "tinny" undertone that was weird and out of place. Meh... disappointing I must say.

Draft. Darker pour, not very heavey for a weizenbock, definite caramel and metallic notes.
