COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Bavarian born brewer, that once helped open an English brewery waaaaay back in the 20th century, gets to name an Irish-style beer after himself...doesn’t he? That’s a BIG stretch, but Florian’s not naming the beer after himself, others at UCBC are to blame. Anyways, to help celebrate spring and the day of Ireland’s Patron Saint, UCBC’s patron brewer, "O’Florian", has brewed a traditional Irish Dry Stout ~ a style that quite often surprises people with its easy-drinking demeanor despite its ominous aroma and dark appearance. OG 12.1 Plato (Imperial Nonic)

Pours a hazy, deep brown color with a small, creamy, lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cream, and dusty wood- very dry and roasty. Gritty, too. Flavor of roasted malts, chocolate, toasted sugar, nuts, and caramel. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty, dry mouthfeel. Very good dry stout.

Pours very dark with a crimson hue and tan head. The aroma has very roasty malt, slight char, bit of chalk, dark cocoa and an overall dryness. Very nice for the style. The body is quite light and crisp and a bit rough with a minor amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with very roasty dry malt, dark cocoa and is pretty much like the aroma, but maybe even a bit drier. The finish is a bit husky and dry (of course) along with a good amount of spicy / earthy hops for bitterness. Well done dry stout.

Draught at Bridge in St Louis. Basically, an Irish Stout. But a bit different as a little bit of Milk Stout is in there. Creamy overall. Nice stout body.

Draft at Urban Chestnut. Pours deep brown, near black with a tan head. Nose is strongly roasty, toasty & nutty with some herbal hops. On tasting, dry and clean with more roast to dry it out and a bit of a tangy aspect that befits it. Great Dry stout.

It poured a dark red almost black color with a brown head. The aroma was of malt and coffee. The taste was of roasted malts, with a touch of coffee. A very good Dry Stout.

(draught at tasting room) black with generous light brown head. Aroma of toasted malt and coffee. Flavor was roast malt, some coffee, hint of sweetness, earthy/grassy hops. Would love to have it on a nitro tap. Very full bodied.

Pours dark brown with light tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, caramel, toffee, and a touch of bread. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate, and some caramel. Finishes dry and roasty. Average stout.

Tasted on tap at the brewery in a nonic pint glass. It poured a predictable opaque black with HUGE beige foam, absolutely everlasting, with a full curtain of lace which covered the glass as it was drunk down. 100% true to style Irish stout characteristics, and a really really good one at that. ROASTY, toasty, bready, fruity. A subtle hoppy balance, some grain bitterness, a nice tartness. Medium body and carbonation, smooth and creamy, almost "chewy" mouthfeel. Dark and delicious aftertaste with a dry finish. Another great one from Urban Chestnut.

Very dry, roasted. Full body. A lot of thin lacing. Full body. This is really good.
