The big brother of our bocks. Darker, maltier, sweeter, and, of course, higher in alcohol than our Maibock. This "bock" could surely take out a troll. OG-18.5 Plato (Snifter)

Lovely doppelbock. Enjoyed this little bastard right after halloween. I have been angry at them for running out so fast.

Firkin on tap It poured a copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of moderate toasted sweet malts and some hops. It had a medium body with a smooth texture and nice carbonation. The taste was of toasted sweet malts with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Nice.

Bottle poured into a stein. Cloudy brown with a small khaki head. Aroma is nutty with lots of toffee, caramel, sweet malts and a little smoke. Taste is toffee, caramel, and chestnut, with sweet malts and mild, grassy hops. Bread as well. Average thickness and a somewhat crisp finish with mild sweetness.

500mL bottle out of variety pack. Pours a dark ruby copper brown color. This is definitely a doppebock, Its a sweet, malty, syrupy dark lager. A little earthy, a little wet leaf. Very much akin to German doppelbocks. Not like most American doppelbocks. So, some people just dislike the style but I like it. This isn’t the best version of the style but its definitely within the typical bounds.

Sampled at EatBar DC pours a clear dark amber with some rocky, off white head. Nose has some sugar, nougat, raisin, date, orange. Flavor has more of the same, raisin, nougat, some sherry, a little orange peel, some brighter cherry. Finishes a touch sweet and a little astringent too.

Cool German looking 50cl bottle, courtesy of gregwilsonstl, pours with a clear amber to mahogany colored body that supports a brief tan head. The aroma offers up brown sugar, caramel, prunes and just a faint dash of toffee at the edge of the experience. The taste begins smooth and sweet with malts, a faint biscuit to very faintly rauch maltiness (or maybe not). To midway it picks up smooth sweet fruity esters like plums and figs and then a raisin bread sensation. Pretty solid.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours reddish brown with a off white head. Taste caramel, malt, buttery. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

Tasted on tap at the brewpub. It poured a hazy copper colour with lasting foam and lace. Malt focused with subdues noble hoppy balance. Bready, toasty, faint black pepper spice but otherwise clean. Strong alcohol, warming to say the least. Strong dark lagers aren’t my favourite thing, but this one is tasty and true-to-style.
