4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 adamjackson (1230) - Lyme, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 6, 2012Acquired in a trade. Enjoyed at fridge temp in a tulip.
A - Pours a murky raisin brown with a 1 finger brown head that fades slowly.
S - I get dark fruits, plums, raisins and figs. Lots of cane syrup / molasses. Hint of rye and bourbon.
T - Impressive! VERY sweet and fruity up front like prune juice. The middle is this intense flavor of vanilla and sweet fruits like apples and mango. The finish is charred oak, vanilla and bourbon. Boozy sweet lingering taste that lasts a while.
M - Heavy body, mild carbonation. Chest burn from the alcohol.
O - This beer is pretty incredible. An excellent balance throughout. It’s certainly a sipper. Very enjoyable!!!! Looking forward to letting it warm up a bit.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (3268) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - MAR 29, 2013
Pours very dark reddish brown with a good sized dense tan head. The aroma has caramel, toffee, vanilla, heavy toasted malt, oak, bourbon, some sweetness and warm abv - quite nice. It has a full smooth body that’s very lush with a small amount of soft gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with dark toffee, English toasty barleywine maltiness, earth, vanilla and alcohol. The finish has some phenolic spice and shows lots of oak. Good for what it is, but not something I’d want often.

March 24, 2013 - bottle from Randalls. Muddy brown pour with nice head that faded somewhat quickly, but foamed up nicely with a soft swirl. Aroma was bready, mild caramel, spicy oak and whiskey. Taste was very bready, little bit of sweetness from the caramel came out after warming for a while, then of course a nice rye whiskey flavor in the finish. Nice medium body and very smooth for this being relatively young. Bottle 2674 of 3000, August 2012.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 pantanap (3156) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 23, 2013
500ml bottle. thanks to vince for the no strings attached opportunity... bottle opens with a small hiss and yields a ruddy mostly opaque non-transparent ruddy mahogany hue and topped with a thin wispy film of sofh beige head that reduces down to a thin ring...aroma of caramel and dark fruit mostly upfront with a strong bourbon barrel boozy component to it. slight papery note to boot. a bit one-note but wasn’t execting all too much complexity.. flavors focus themselves on a semi-boozy spicy barrel qualities with interspersed notes of dark fruit and toffee. a little bit of coconut thrown into the mix as well. medium bodied, not too full or cloying, with a soft prickly nature to it. carbonation is there and provides life. warming on the backend with a boozy bitterness that lingers late.
