On tap @ Urban Chestnut. Hazed orange pour with a white head. Some bready malt at first, but nice grapefruit, orange, and lemon peel citrus character. Fair amount of spice and pine, too. Flavor has a touch of malt and fruity sweetness, perhaps some peach. Grapefruit and pine bitterness. A bit of a spicy hop note and subtle tropical fruits. Pretty tasty.

Musty pine and resin aroma with slight earth. Moderate hazy light straw. Full white head. Taste is bready malt throughout. Moderate low pine and slight citrus hops. Moderate high bitterness and a dryish finish.

Smells odd. Like one of my messed up home brews. Opaque yellow, also like one of my messed up home brews. Tastes like a sour heff. I guess this represents the great city of St. Louis, home of fat people and pasty women who look like Angela from the Office. Maybe people from the South are just different from me and I can’t understand them just yet.

Draft… RBSG 2014… Pours dirty-orange with a small, creamy, white head. The aromatic standouts include dank weed, underarm musk and peppery cedar-like notes. Full-bodied with buzzing carbonation. The flavor is bitter, sort of fruity, and certainly spicy. Lengthy, minerally, lightly bitter finish. Very nice.

Tap @ brewery during RBSG 2014 Meet and Greet: Sort of a hazy coppery amber hue with a good head and lace. Moderate rindy juicy fruit, herbal and resiny, caramel and bread, a tad minerally and metallic. Really a mostly balanced Midwestern IPA. Smooth mouth feel that is a tad dry upon the finish. It is okay as overall impressions is lesser than the separate parts.

Bottle from the brewpub - Hazy orange-amber pour, filmy off-white head. Nose of oats, grain, orange marmalade, and grassy, spicy hops. A bit malty for my tastes and a tad sharp. Taste is real dry malt, astringent and spicy, with dry herbal hops, a touch of lemon, and dry grainy oats on the finish. More sharpness on the finish. Smooth, silky body with mellow carbonation. Okay, but a little dry and sharp for my tastes.
