Revolution Series #1: We are affectionately referring to the first beer in our Revolution series of modern, American craft beer, as our unusual little bird. It’s a little on the flighty side @ 6.5% ABV, and it’s a little on the wacky side because we’ll brew it with finely milled chestnuts (genus castanea …for you nut freaks), Willamette hops, and we’ll ferment it with a Bavarian Weissbier yeast strain. All of these nuances contribute to its ‘nutty’ personality. ABV- 6.5%, IBU’s- 25, OG – 14.5 Plato (UCBC Goblet)

olio (8200) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 14, 2014
50 cl bottle.
Pours clear copper color with a small head. The aroma is very odd; sour fruits, yeast and bread. Flavor is even worse, some rotten granola, hay and malts.

500 ml bottle. Pours an amber copper colour with a small head. Aroma of toasted malts, bread, tart red berries and salt. Flavour of toasted malts, plastic, red berries, sourness, earth and grains. Strong yeastiness. Light bodied. Feels ruined. If there’s a possibility, I will re-rate this. What a shame.

Draft to snifter at the Midtown Biergarten. Looks solid; a semi-transparent brownish apricot with foamy eggshell head. Smells malty and yeasty with a bit of clove woven in. Tastes like it smells, but more balanced. The hops come through more on the tongue. Pleasant on the palate. Solid beer, and tastes better than it smells.

50cl bierpost bb12/2014. Soggy biscuit beer, fresh foam. Beguilingly delicate "amber" Dunkelweizen nose: older banana, wheat porridge, honeypops, indeed maroni. Taste is a mellow continuation of that with a lovingly dosed hop spice. Very drinkable composition, a full bulky bottle is not a challenge as with some Dunkelweizens.

(bottle, 5.4% abv) Hazy, amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Yeasty, present wheaty aroma with notes of cara-malt, a whiff of nuts and a fruity touch of banana. Moderately sweet and delicately sour flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Wheaty and mildly cara-malty taste with nutty spots and fruity notes of banana; mildly sweet and delicately acidic wheaty and fruity finish with notes of banana and caramel in the aftertaste. Solid. 29.IX.14
