3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft notes from Lansdale Brew Fest. Poured hazy gold with white clingy head. Nose was pale malt, hopcitrus, with a smooth flavor of the pale malt, hopcitrus, complexity from the non-filtration, and this is a definite beer you could gladly drink all day.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Which I could sit down with a session of this. Where it stands it is a good lager and one of the few in the style in the US.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear light yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice light grain with a bit of grass and a touch of earthiness. Flavor has a lot of light grains with a nice earthy grass note underlying. Great drink ability.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2011 Draft at the brewpub served in one of their steins (Wasandis is also served in this), so I didn’t get a great look at the color looked like a slightly cloudy yellow-gold, and there was an uneven white head. Aroma of grassy hops, straw, butter, bready and pale malts, and yeast. Flavor followed suit for the most part, getting sweeter, maltier, and more buttery as it went down and warmed. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a grainy, malty mouthfeel. Don’t know a whole lot about this style but it was nice and easy to drink. RE-RATE: Had it again at The Royale. This is still not a style I know much about but this is a great, sessionable beer. I’d like to try more Z/K/Ls for comparison because I don’t think they’d beat this.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster at Upland Sourfest. From a bottle. Clear golden color. Thin off-white head. Couple dots of lace. Wow. Awesome clean bready aroma, very satisfying. Full-bodied, yet refreshing. Awesome change of pace from the 100 sours today. Good mild bitter, moderate sweet. Badass Zwickel. Want to session this.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain/cracker, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of DMS, linoleum, and detergent.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean, husky.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Seems like maybe some promise lies under the covers, but the clunky/industrial flaws are prominent and difficult to ignore (in both nose and mouth). A drain pour, but at least the brewer’s heart was in the right place.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
This rating is from bottle (even though I had some on tap too)... YES the bottled version is far better, no idea why.
Hazy golden hue with a fading head and spotty lace. The aroma is a beautiful confluence of pils malt, noble hops and minerally water. The taste is spot on with the nose, just bitter enough for refreshment and just enough mouth feel to make sure you know you are not drinking some blah lager. I can only imagine this is what bier was more modern advances got in the way. Glad I still have two more to enjoy... should have bought more. FYI, my tap rating would have been 3.7. I did detect a touch of DMS on tap, none in the two bottles I have opened so far.

500 ml can. Pours a cloudy orange color with a small white head. A light nose of dough some light fruit. The flavor is crisp, light hops, big bready dough, some caramel, yeasty. Very good. Crisp and flavorful. I could drink a ton of this.
