3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hmm. Does naming a beer after a fictional alcoholic make it okay? Just asking. This has a cloudy brown color. A thin ring of foam left around the edge after I’ve the other three beers in my sampler. Hops are not as powerful as in the other beers, maybe because they are meant more for balance.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour on tap, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of tropical fruit, orange, grapefruit into a bit of spice, yeast, some earth into a bit of grain, biscuit, some slight grassy notes. Taste was a mix of orange, grapefruit, grass and pine into a bit of biscuit, bread, some dough into a bit of caramel, finishing slightly bitter.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at the tap room. Pours a medium orange with a small white head. The Motueka hops impart a pretty interesting aroma, focusing mostly on tropical fruit and citrus notes. It smells nice, a bit different, but pleasing. Hops get a bit lost in the flavor, but it’s still quite bitter. A bit muddled, lots of fruity sweetness and bitterness. Mouthfeel is a bit watery, a lingering bitterness in the finish. Needs to get cleaned up a bit, but I see the potential.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2014 Draft at source. A cloudy rusty color. Aroma has a bit of hops. Taste is more malty and bready than I expect from an IPA
