Not all that bitter but that is likely due to age, solid roast and slight chocolate notes over bready notes. Minimal char but there still are some fruity esters about. An okay beer that should have been drank fresher methinks.

Solid black IPA. Nice bitterness, a little dark chocolate and dark roasted malt. Iíd have this one again, no question.

Black pour from bottle at two brothers brewery. White head. Chalky chestnut and raisin aroma. Also burnt leaves. Taste is bitter and hoppy with cocoa and earthy ending. Not too shabby

HonkeyBra (3519) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - JUL 31, 2014
On tap at the Naperville Ale Festival. Pours a dark brownish black with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, pine, citrus peel, mild roast notes. Flavor is strongly bitter with mild chocolate sweetness. Medium bodied with above average carbonation. Finishes long and bitter. Interesting black IPA.

22 oz bottle from Petersonís Fine Wine & Liquor in Naperville. Nice malts but the hops are with it. Pours black like the creature from black lagoon with a nice tan foam with good lacing. Taste is really good with the 85 ibuís and rich malts leaving the palate with a nice hoppy rich aftertaste with the 8.5 abv. Overall a very good beer.

tmoreau (2562) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2014
On tap at the Beer House in Yorktown Center, Lombard, and dispensed to a 6 oz. fest/sampler displaying good clarity to the ruby highlighted, darkest brown color, with a persistent layer of creamy, tan froth to the head, and doily-like appearance to the clingy lacing. The nose was roasted, coffee and creamy malt, with hints of smoke & char. The taste added a medium piney & earthy hop bitterness that lingered, and enough malt to take the edge off the resiny astringency. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, and alcohol that seemed well woven into the flavor. Imperial? Finished crisply bitter & dry, and pretty tasty, nonetheless.
