3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fresh bottle. Pours black with tan head. There is a licorice scent present along with some bubble gum (?). Kind of odd. Taste is strongly licorice and sweet malt. Oddly sweet without the balance of any hops.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at their new tap room. Really dark, and fairly thick. Initial aroma reminded me vaguely of expedition. Lots of dark roasted malts with medium sweetness. Taste is imperial stout but has a touch of banana and maybe some graham crackers. not Belgian yeast banana, more like chocolate banana milkshake. really tasty stout from these guys.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler shared at Danís Birthday Tasting (Lyons, IL). Pours a deep blackish dark pour, a decent thickness, some legs. Just a touch of brownish light on the edges. A frothy tannish head stays as a decent layer, laces ok. Aromas are cocoa and black malts, some decent roast, toffee and toast. Fuller, decent roast and dryness hits. Initial is firmer end of the fold, heavier end of medium with firmer roast, toast, and dryness. Some good bakers chocolate, mellow coffee. Some firmer dryness, roast and coffee beans. Bigger bakers chocolate into the middle, dark chocolate, some toastiness, some faint anise. Decent to medium roast stays firm. Backend is some gentle dark fruit mixed into a firm roast and dark chocolate melange. Decent body, some earthy hop dryness, mellow heat. Pretty nice offering here. Itís not for barrels, but itís pretty good as is.
