500ml bottle. Clear brown colour with average, frothy, minimally lacing, tan head. Minimally sweet, slightly grainy, dark malty aroma with a touch of hay. Taste is dark malty, minimally grassy hop overtones, very subtle sweetness. A bit watery. fizzy carbonation.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 stevoj (928) - Ramstein-Miesenbach, GERMANY - JUL 5, 2012
Hmmmm...finally discovered an average German dunkel. Not much in the flavor department, barely any hints of the nuttiness or roast grains this style is usually noted for. Falls flat on the tongue ...almost watery. After enjoying their Festmarzen so much, this one was a little disappointing. With so many good examples of this style, this one leaves a lot to be desired.

500 ml bottle at home in Germany. Pours a nice chestnut brown color with a light brown head. Aroma is spicy bread, malt and caramel. Taste is sour roasted nuts and malt. Lots of carb action in this one and let it warm a bit before drinking. Palate is nice mellow and very fine. A jewel this one is.
