3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear deep dark brown/ruby in colour with a creamy beige head.
Cara-malty nose and aroma escorted by bread and mild chocolate underpainted by roasted malt. Some fruity accents appearing, too.
Nice creamy mouthfeel.
Sweetbitter and gently warming finish with coffee and breadcrumb.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50cl bottle in Sighisoara, northern Romania. I can see that the exotica politica could give this beer a leg up and it is by no means poor, but its dark allure seems to me to come more from molasses than skillfully blended darker malts. Plain and nice but not the top quartile in my view. And schwarzbier is a bit of a cop-out as the connections in this part of the world are with Scandinavia, so bokking it up a bit might bring more authenticity.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can. Dark brown/black pour with a tan head. Roasted malt aromas. The body and carbonation are good. Nice roasted malt and bitter chocolate notes with just a hint of cola. To be honest, I did not have expectations and am pleasantly surprised...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle is better than draft with this one, generally...Is black, and nearly opaque with a stable tan head
Very pleasant malty aroma if brown bread and mild chocolate
Pure bready malts are creamy and smooth on the palate with lingering spice. Very nice.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer was brought to me from a co-worker returning from a trip to Romania. First and foremost thank you Delia for taking the effort of buying this beer and traveling with it half way across the world so I can try it.
The Aroma was evident went I was decanting it from the can. I picked up bread, charcoal and spicy aromas with slight hints of fruit. The beer had a off white to a light brown frothy head that diminished leaving a small amount of tracing. The color was clear black that wasn’t transparent.
Initial sip started out kind of sweet. Then a little sour. Finished with a heavy bread flavor with somewhat of a harsh and aftertaste. The palate was light with an oily texture and soft carbonation.
I originally gave it an 11 out of 20 overall score. I’m going to change it to 12 because it came out of a can instead of on tap or out of a bottle and it traveled on a long journey.

500ml bottle. Very nice, dark brown beer with an impressive foam. Quite malty, medium bodied but not too heavy and not too alcoholic. It is a good balanced beer.

Though Ursus Black is a simple dark beer, thus most these examples are successful, it has an empty bar for aroma and palate.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer is tasteful enough for the low price and 0.5l bottle. You will enjoy the medium bitterness and the dizziness also :)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 12, 2012 0,5l can as gift from Romania. Beautiful, clear, deep brown color with creamy, medium, brown head. Coffee and roasted malty aroma, typical dark lager. The flavours of the Carafa malt dominates. Basicly light bitter taste, but later some sweetness appears. Light to medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. The sweetness continues in the aftertaste, and it is finished with a roasted malty flavour. Delicious, light, but tasteful beer. Drinkable, good for every day.
