3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy amber with a thin head. The aroma is very fruity with sweet and sour notes along with some Belgian spices and a hint of booze. the flavor is also fruity and a bit of the booze warms the throat. There is also a bit of pepper and a nice bitter feel to it. Medium bodied and very refreshing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Saraveza, pours a cloudy golden with a medium white head. Aroma of tart fruits, stone fruits, Belgian yeast. Flavour is both tart and sweet, with over-ripe fruits, light Belgian yeast and more of the over-ripe fruits. Very atypical for a tripel, much sweeter and slightly tarter. Excellent, despite its unorthodoxy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Serious gusher, somewhere between blonde and amber, hazy with quickly disappearing foam.
Nose of subdued hops (maybe because it wasn’t cold enough), slightly fruity, a little sweet.
Taste of grains and quite some alcoholic warmth, bitterness but not too strong, almost a hint of honey in there. Apart from the alcohol not such a strong taste but nice overall. Smooth aftertaste, lingering afterglow and a mix of hops and again that grainy character. A slight, delicate bitterness adds complexity.
This was a pleasant surprise for me, nicely balanced; not overly complex but it has an evolving, rounded taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Moderate grain and caramel for the malt, light lemon for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast, with ripe pear, white wine, honey and a hint of clove in the background. Head is small, fizzy, white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is hazy medium amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a carbonation between soft and lively and has a heavily alcoholic finish. There is a nice transition between all the flavors in this Tripel, this is a fantastic beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle into chalice, 07/08 dating on the cork. Pours a very cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Thin wisps of lacing on the glass, with slight carbonation streaming up from the bottom. Aromas of big apricot, lemon, bread, pear, pepper, earth, herbal, grape, apple, honey, floral, and white wine funkiness. Some pretty nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of big grape, apple, apricot, pepper, herbal, earth, bread, orange, grass, candi sugar, honey, and slight white wine tanginess. Very nice balance of flavors, with good complexity. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly slick and creamy mouthfeel as expected. Alcohol is very well hidden at 9% with only a slight warming after the finish. Very easy to sip on. Overall this is a very nice Tripel! Age definitely took some of the traditional peppery flavor from this; but it was still nicely balanced and very smooth. Too bad they discontinued this one, I would really like to try this fresh.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brown 33cl bottle, best before 07-2011, drank 02-2010, poured, including whatever was at the base of the bottle, into my Westmalle chalice.
A dull orange body, which was misty and murky filled the chalice, a clean, fairly thick, white head sat on top, the head soon fell to a thinner wispy covering with a lacing collar. Hunks of sediment could clearly be seen gambling through the cloudy body of the beer.
Belgian yeast esters could be sniffed, along with the sweeter end of the citrus fruits (oranges and pink grapefruits).
The taste was a heavenly mix of flavours, the aforementioned citrus fruits, Cloves? Cinnamon? and a sweetness that isn’t pushy like some Belgian beers, sugar is however listed as an ingrediant.
The body tries to counter the heavy alcohol and almost manages to hide it, but fails, so the 9% ABV rears its head mid-way through the mouthfeel, getting stronger as the mouth dries.
This is very drinkable, the alcohol is evident, but the whole package seems to cope well with it, sadly I don’t have another to follow this one (but I do have two more beers from this brewery to review, maybe even tonight).
