brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA Mar 19, 2005 Soft and gentle cloudy yellow pour. Yeasty, citrus, with a bit of spice for aroma. Citrus orange, yeasty and peppery flavors. Somewhat lemon tart and dry at the finish. Alcohol is quite noticable, and becomes a bit hot at the end of the bottle. Overall, a pretty average Belgian.
markwise (257), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle courtesy of kiefdog. It poured a golden color with a slight white head. It smelled of apples, toffee, pepper, and slight brett. It tasted a lot like a saison with leanings toward tripelness. Lots of yeast and pepper and it had a bitter finish. Respectable beer. Magic_dave6 (3642), London, Greater London, England Aug 13, 2008 Bottle from utobeer. Aroma is very spicey and peppery, pale candy sugar with grassy hop, but buring alc is key. Taste is again big and bitter, peppery character is a main character. I just dont care for high alc triples anymore, the yeastyness and the peppery alc is soo been there done that. Borresteijn (427), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 11, 2008 Bottle @ home. Golden amber colour, big white head. Aroma is sweet, fruity and caramel, alcohol. Taste is yeast, sweet caramel, malts, very fruity. Slightly bitter alcohol finish. Tastes a lot softer, less carbonated and simply better than the old version of this brew. jeffwilliams11 (249), hooterville, Michigan, USA Aug 9, 2008 pours bright yellow/straw with a thick white head. aroma and flavor are very caramelly. some bready notes in the smell also. flavor is slightly fruity, mildly yeasty. somewhat too sweet for my tastes, but very drinkable for 9%. WISEGUY572 (1099), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2008 Funny old dwarf on the label. Is this Doc or Doppy? Weird, but the beer wasn’t. Sweeter than I expected from a tripel but the yeast and bread eventually emerges as it warms, as well as some soft fruitiness that may also be out of place. Hoppier than than I expected as well. Not my favorite tripel ... sort of hard to classify it as a traditional Belgian tripel. But enjoyable.
